Of the First Years of Mishfrem The Lords of the west named the east Mishfrem. For it seemed to them that the three peoples were great and powerful and could resist and fight the dark. In the early years of the elves they had but a single king. His name was Lorcos. He was a wise and fair king and was revered by all. Though it seemed to a few that he was weak. The elves dwell in primarily two areas, in the North in the forest nearest the coats and along the nearby river. In the south they dwell on the peninsula of Tielfrem and west of the Mountains of the Sea. These two peoples were slightly different of speech and stature. The south was the greater of the two. After many years Lorcos had two sons. Helbrethim and Edmiel. He promised to Helbrethim the southern kingdom and to Edmiel the northern. But Edmiel was jealous of his brother and spoke secretly against him. He could not openly oppose him, though, for Helbrethim was greater of arms. In a council of the elves in the south in 4139 EC Edmiel spoke these words: Lords of the elves! Hearken to my plea! Do not send open war upon the darkness for it is great! Look to your own kingdoms and the defense of them. Build places of strength and might to take refuge in. It is folly to strike now. What do our people truly know of open warfare the arts thereof? Listen not to the councils of the most warlike! I will here now take an oath to send no troops to the aid of such a war. I shall hold thee, the lords of the elves, witness and if I fail in my oath then may I be stricken by flame and death! And the council was moved by his words. But Helbrethim became angered and spake thus: Shall we then sit as ones who are aged and feeble? Awaiting a doom that is full of peril? Why not then strike now when the darkness has not the strength to fight against us? This I will say, as my brother has taken an oath so shall I, if any one of you, the Lords of the Elves, refuse the call to war when the time comes I and my house shall find thee and slay the with the arms of they own house! Wilt thou not listen to me? Wilt thou still hold back from war? Speak! And he stood staring at the lords of the elves and they were silent. Then, as one group, all but Edmiel spake thus: We shall join thee in thy course of war for thou hast called upon us a dire fate which we would not wish to see occur! and they rose and left to gather arms and troops for the war. Many days later Edmiel arrived at his home and told his men to gather arms and supplies for war. For in his heart he knew that it would come that Helbrethim would try and slay him. Then the defenses of his kingdom were made great and he created a great fortress on the coast and named it Mishjuk. Which is great walls in the tongues of the elves. Edmiel dared to venture south again but in secret. He sowed seeds of dissent and un happiness in the peoples of Tielfrem and the Lords of Darkness were pleased for he was weakening Tielfrem for them. Then, in 4178 news of a great host of evil came to Tielfrem. It was greater than any host of the elves ever before seen. They were delayed by a small force of elves from Tielfrem. Then Edmiel went to Helbrethim and wept while he bowed before him. He repented of his evils and Helbrethim was angered. But he forgave his brother Edmiel. Then Edmiel sent forth a host from his lands. They fought the forces of evil halfway between the Hills of Dilmarth and Tielfrem. It was a bleak sun-burnt plain. His forces were arrayed along a two mile line so as to close around the enemy. But the host of evil was even greater than had been reported and stretched far into the plain and in the front were trolls and worse yet, flame trolls. They were the size of trolls but from their hands and fingers there was a dark flame of blue and black. From their head protruded three great horns tipped by flame. And they wielded immense battle swords from which flame came forth. Then Edmiel charged forth with Drembigren and Tyoloson, his friends from the north. The flame trolls caught sight of them and battle was engaged. From the sword of Edmiel there came a bright white light and all but the strongest evils fled before it. Then came the Flame Troll King. He was larger and stronger then the rest of the trolls. Edmiel stood before him and called to him. He taunted him saying: Is it thus that the Lords of Darkness send forth a campfire to fight me, one of the two kings of the elves? Should it be so that I shall take up arms against the lapdog of evil? Then the troll spake saying: Nay! You see before thou the lord of flame and master of the armies while I see not a king but a betrayer of kin! Then Edmiel became full of a red wrath and leapt forth at the great Flame Troll King. He wounded him thrice and the Troll fell each time, but for each wound he gave, his opponent gave one to him as well. But Edmiel Fought on and then stumbled. The Flame Troll King leapt forth to kill him when Edmiel stabbed upwards. Then the Flame Troll grasped him and with its last breath crushed him. The forces of evil charged forth believing that their leader had slain the enemy while the forces of the Elves leapt into the frey led by Frethdin, son of Edmiel. Many were slain that day but the enemy was defeated and repulsed. And thus the kingdom of Tielfrem was saved by the valor of Edmiel and the elves of the north. Thereafter the Elves of the north named themselves and their lands Delecon. Anguish in their fair speech.
