Interviewer: Greetings

Quranite: Peace to you.

Interviewer: Thank you for the kind words. Now lets get going. There are some who say you are not really muslim, but an agent of Zionism, or basically a liar and kuffar. What do you say to that?

Quranite: (Laughs lighty) I say that such are intitled to an opinion that may not be right. It is funny that you mention me being called kuffar. Kuffar is a word that means rejector and this is true in one sense. I reject all views that are in contradiction to the message of God.

Interviewer: How many are there who believe as you do?

Quranite: I'm not sure in the least bit. I've not taken any statistics. I can say only God knows of a certainty.

Interviewer: Apparently many of you do not agree on a great many things. Does this show that your position on following the quran alone and free interpretation thereof is wrong?

Quranite: No I do not think so. There are people who are new to this movement and go about interpreting things in the wrong way, but this is no excuse. There are people who have been linked to the movement who differ greatly with one another. For example, there are Submitters who believe in a code 19 and then there are others who do not. I personally think there are those, a great many, who do not go about interpreting the quran rightly.

Interviewer: Can you explain what you mean about people interpreting things in the wrong way?

Quranite: Well people tend to draw conclusions to try and fit an idea they have. They want it to conform so much, they want that idea to be right so much that an interpretation can be reached that will not fit in with the basis of the book. What I mean is that there is a line of thought in the quran that should not be deviated from and when one begins to deviate with misuse of context and the desire to be right when they are wrong, troubles arise. Therefore free interpretation is a misnomer.

Interviewer: Why are you called a Quranite?

Quranite: I'm not really sure. It is not a title I've given to myself, but we tend to be labelled as such which makes sense since it is the quran we seek to follow. I think, like the word kuffar (opposer) this title has been thrown about to insult such people as myself.

Interviewer: What do you call yourself then?

Quranite: In verse 22/78 of the quran God has called us muslimeen, so I call myself one who surrenders.
