Lately I have found myself engrossed in reading discussions and opinions of tattoos on the internet. But nothing strikes me as more rediculous than the Christian extremist's views on tattoos. In fact, it pissed me off so bad that I will defend tattoos on an offensive stance, and I am going to attack hypocrisy completely on the front. It is the only way to defend attacks on integrity. This is my response to those who would make such a bold statment, not as a blow against Christianity, but as one against merely the self-righteous.
So this is what Christian critics say about tattoos: It says in Leviticus 19:28 it says "Do not cut yourself for the dead or put marks on yourself. I am the Lord" (I am aware of the grammatical errors in the bolded statement, it was a copy and paste from someone else's dumbass post).
Well, funny how that's right. But it's also funny how I looked up the verse, and Leviticus 19:27 (The very previous verse) says "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." I'm sure every man and select women are guilty of shaving their beards. Now why would God make such a commandment? Because he was talking about (my opinion) are occult practices which took place in ceremony of worshipping the dead. Go ahead. Shave your beards.
This is what Christian critics say in response to such a thought: But why would you want to cover up something that God gave you? God made you and it was good, now why would you want to cover that up?
Gee, thanks for picking out my faults. Now here are yours. 80% of women and 25% of men in the U.S. have a piercing, not necessarily on the ear. According to a poll done by ABC News, 83% of Americans consider themselves to be Christians (In one form or another). I don't think that I have to draw out a Venn Diagram for you to show you that there is a crossover, that there are many Christians with piercings. God gave you a perfectly good ear, and you went ahead and put a hole in it. Why would you do that? Couldn't that also fall under the lines of "not cutting yourselves?" I'm also sure that the very vast majority of women, Christian or not, wear makeup. God gave you a perfectly good face (Or so your mother tells you), why are you so unhappy with it that you have to cover it up, do your own touch-ups because God's good work wasn't good enough? Let's take it a step further. Why do you cover up your whole body with clothing? When you wake up in the morning and put on your Levi Jeans and Nike Shoes, couldn't that fall under the criteria of branding or "Marking" yourselves? All of my tattoos are under my clothes, so why is it a concern to you?
Now let's take a look at the question again. This is where I shoot to kill: WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO COVER UP SOMETHING THAT GOD GAVE YOU?"
The Catholics changed the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday to better fit in with the schedules of man. It's historically documented, so there's no argument to it. Check it out for yourselves. God only asked you for 1 day, but his wish isn't good enough for you, because it doesn't fit your schedule. Why would you cover up God's day for the benefit of your convenience?
Another thing that was changed was that Pagan holidays were intertwined with Christian holidays to make them more enticing. One thing God STRICTLY FORBIDS YOU TO DO IS PRACTICE PAGANISM. But you do it when you put up a Christmas tree, or send little children out to hunt for Easter Eggs. Easter is the perfect example. The easter bunny represents the Pagan God of Fertility, Isthmar. Practices that were involved in the worship of Isthmar included but were not limited to acts of prostitution and child sacrifice. Those things make the death and resurrection of Christ so much more enticing, doesn't it? Why would you celebrate Jesus' resurrection with such obscene ties? Is Jesus' resurrection to you so meaningless that you have to spice up the day with Pagan rituals to make it meaningful to you?
And after all of this, you'll be damned to let me have Mt. Fuji on my back.
