| History of Bewdley | |||||||||||||||||||||
| The name 'Bewdley' has come from the Russian word for 'Island of child touchers' and the first settlers arrived in the 1200s. These families ran a small acorn computer repair company but this went out of the business with the success of the modern PCs we now see in our homes. As you can see the centre of Bewdley has been built in the middle of a river which always makes getting around rather fun! The cheap prices of wood and mud in the early 1300s meant that many thousands of people built rafts and rowed across the oceans from China and Lapland, using only their children as oars. Bewdley became a strong and thriving town until a volcanic eruption from Clows Top killed everyone in 1758. A family from Stourport emmigrated to Bewdley after this and inbred at a massive rate, creating over 85% of todays population. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| The Burberry ban in 2001 resulted in a huge riot in Bewdley in which 37 people and 18 racoons died (racoons were used as missiles). The ban was lifted following a visit to the town by Tony Blair, but replaced by limiting measures on Rockports and La Coste tracksuits to prevent Chavie population expanding further. A special breed of Burberry dog was created to comemorate the troubled time. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| It was an old custom in Bewdley to hang a naked criminal from the bridge on Christmas Eve. Because not much crime was commited in the town, often the towns folk had to improvise. In 1834 a child was lynched for wetting the bed and in 1870 a man was hanged for downloading a MASSIVE amount of porn during the year. This barbaric act was outlawed in 1903 and now each year a labrador is shot and dangled from the bridge in lighthearted recognition of the tradition. | |||||||||||||||||||||
