Hi and Welcome to my website About Crohn's disease, Colitis, IBD
and Living With Chronic Illness!

My name is Tami, and I am a 37-year-old wife and mother to three. My family and I make our home in central Florida. At the age of 14, I was diagnosed with something called Crohn's disease. It is a disease that occurs in the digestive organs (mainly in the large and/or small intestines, but it can occur anywhere throughout the digestive tract).

As a result of having this disease, I have undergone four major operations. The doctors would say that I am now in "remission." However, I am and have been off of all prescription medication for several years now (except B-12 injections that I give myself once a month). My purpose in creating these web pages is to encourage and comfort others who live with this disease and similar chronic illnesses: to let them know their not alone and to never give up hope! 

The only thing that has been able to bring me through all of the trials and tribulations I've experienced with this disease has been the HOPE I find in Jesus Christ. It's my faith in God's sovereignty and goodness and the promises He's given in His Word to us that have carried me through. At one time I was very mad at Him. I didn't understand WHY He would allow me to have this disease. I have come to realize that it wasn't Him who gave me an illness, but rather that diseases and all forms of seemingly needless suffering is simply one of many effects of of living in a sinful world where death and decay are so obviously at work. I know that when rain falls, anyone in its path gets wet (unless they have an umbrella of course! Haha!). The only difference now, is that I have a resource to deal with these trials and tribulations that some others do not (an umbrella if you will)

This site offers general information about Crohn's disease and IBD, support through a public message board and chat room, encouragement as your read personal stories of others with Crohn's disease, colitis or some other form of IBD, as well as several links to national organizations that specialize in researching these types of diseases.
