After having been taken to the cleaners by a "home improvement" scam from a well advertised contractor, we learned our lesson and contacted Mr. Kevin Drake of AOK Home Improvement. Kevin since then has done all of the carpentry, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and tile work on a broad range of projects for us. In each and every project Kevin exhibits his impeccable workmanship, skills, and talents. His attention to detail exceeds even my wife's requirements. He is always on time and works hard while on the job. He completed each project on time and within the agreed budget.
Kevin has the ability to listen to a customer and determine what they really want to accomplish. He will use his considerable experience to offer advice on the best methods and materials to accomplish the project but also does what the customer wants, not what Kevin wants. Kevin has the ability to translate his customers' ideas into a plan that insures his customers get exactly what they want. His quoted estimates are very fair and accurate if nothing significant changes during the project. AOK Home Improvement's high ethical standards and Kevin's own personal intergrity and honesty insure that the completed work and final invoice represents the original agreement. We feel completely comfortable with just a binding handshake on all but the very largest contracts.
Kevin has replaced every door in the house with high quality materials and workmanship. He totally remodeled the master bathroom, ripping our the old stuff (can you imagine what the bath tub looked like after 25 years of use?) and rebuilding literally from the ground up including the painting. He also remodeled the downstairs powder room with new stand alone vanity, new lighting, exhaust fans and tile flooring.
We remodeled the kitchen which was also a really involved task. Kevin had to rip out the old cabinets, coordinate with the vendor staff providing the new cabinets and granite countertops and the corresponding design, install all of that along with the new appliances. He also had to build the trim work for the cabinets, install new wiring and electrical outlets into their new locations. He also replaced the original ugly light fixtures with recessed lighting.
We also added a roof over our outside deck located on the south side of our house. The roofing material is made from GE LEXAN plastic which is a white translucent color. This blocks the ultra-violet rays from the deck while allowing 80% of the light to come through. This cuts the heat down considerably which allows the use of the deck all summer and during rain storms even. Kevin's design and construction of the roof caused the building inspector to remark that "even if the hurricane blows down the house this roof will remain standing." It's awesome.
We can not emphasize enough our satisfaction with the performance of AOK Home Improvement and Kevin Drake. He has always exhibited a total professional attitude and an absolute desire to do the best job possible and to the customers' satisfaction. This shows in the quality of his work.
