History: June 1952-Feb 1966 #1-125, retitled Thor for #126-502, Nov 1996-June 1998 #503-521
Summary: Journey Into Mystery started in 1952 and was a monster/sci-fi anthology series until #83 when Thor, god of Thunder was introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Thor was promently featured in every issue and #125 was the last to feature the Journey Into Mystery title as it was renamed Thor with #126. Thor lasted until #502 when the Onslaught storyline in 1996, led to a relaunch of the Avengers and Fantastic Four characters into all new #1 series that took place in a pocket universe. Thor was the only one to not get a new book, but it was replaced with a new Journey Into Mystery title with #503. This new series started Red Norvell and the Lost Gods who were displaced after Asgard disappeared. With #514 the title started to feature other Marvel stars. When the Avengers and Fantastic Four returned from the pocket universe, they also returned with new #1 issues in late 1997. Thor returned with a new #1 issue also in July 1998 and this meant the end for Journey Into Mystery with #521. Journey Into Mystery is the longest running Marvel title if you count the thirty years it spent titled Thor.
