Summary: The Avengers fight Holocaust and Post in this Onslaught tie-in. Issue #402 led into the
Onslaught: Marvel Universe one-shot where the heroes sacrifced their lives to defeat Onslaught.
A new Avengers vol. 2 #1 took place in a parallel universe created by the powerful Franklin Richards.
After the heroes returned they were relaunched again to vol. 3 #1. In 2001, Marvel began its
sub-numbering system with a smaller number indicating what issue it would be if the series hadn't been
relaunched, so issue #41 was also #456. After #84 (499) the original numbering returned, but this was
short lived as the Avengers series was ended with the Disassembled storyline by Brian Michael Bendis which
saw the disbandment of the original team. A month later a new team was born with 'New Avengers #1'!
