Summary: The Incredible Hulk was one of Marvel's first Silver Age super-hero titles. However it was cancelled with issue #6 to make room for The new Amazing Spider-Man title in 1963. Hulk then appeared in the new Avengers series briefly as a member and then moved to Tales to Astonish. In 1968, Hulk took over Tales to Astonish full time and with #102 the title was renamed The Incredible Hulk. Hulk ran for many years and was the last Marvel title of the late 1990s to be relaunched with a new #1 issue. After long-running writer Peter David left the series, sales began to sag, so John Byrne was brought in. Originally he was going to start with #475, but Marvel decided to relaunch the series and drop 'The Incredible' from the title. Hulk #1 came out a month after #474. John Byrne left with series with #11 and with #12 the title became Incredible again. In 2001, Marvel began its sub-numbering system with a smaller number indicating what issue it would be if the series hadn't been relaunched, so issue #27 was also #501. However with #34, they have stopped using the dual numbers on The Incredible Hulk.INDEX
