Summary: In this imaginary tale, 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow,' Superman
is plagued by his enemies as Bizarro goes on a rampage and commits suicide. The Toyman
and the Prankster expose Clark Kent as Superman and kill Pete Ross. Metallo cyborgs try
to kill the staff of the Daily Planet to get at Superman. Luthor also teams up with Brainiac
and plot to kill Superman once and for all. Superman is visited by the Legion, because they
know this will be be his final battle. The story concludes in Action Comics #583.
Superman titles are put on hiatus as John Byrne writes and draws 'The Man of Steel'
mini-series which introduces us to the post-Crisis Superman world. The Superman title
is launched to a #1 and the new Adventures of Superman picks up the numbering of the original
title with #424. With the Infinite Crisis storyline, Adventures of Superman was cancelled with #649 as well as
Superman Volume 2 with #226. The Superman title's original numbering was restored the next month with #650.
