Summary: The Fantastic Four, along with the Avengers Captain America, and Iron Man were relaunched after Onslaught apparently did them all in. Issue #416 led into the Onslaught: Marvel Universe one-shot where the heroes sacrifced their lives to defeat Onslaught. A new Fantastic Four vol. 2 #1, drawn by Jim Lee took place in a parallel universe created by the powerful Franklin Richards. After the heroes returned they were relaunched again to vol. 3 #1. In 2001, Marvel began its sub-numbering system with a smaller number indicating what issue it would be if the series hadn't been relaunched, so issue #42 was also #471. The vol. 3 numbering continued until #70 in 2003, as the next issue officially returned to original numbering with #500.
