Thunderbolts #81 Sept 2003, New Thunderbolts #1 Jan 2005
Thunderbolts #100 May 2006

History: 'Thunderbolts' Apr 1997-Sept 2003 #-1, 1-81, 'New Thunderbolts' Jan 2005-Apr 2006 #1-18 (82-99), 'Thunderbolts' May 2006-present #100-p Summary: A title with a twist. After the FF and Avengers were seemingly killed, a new team of heroes appeared. They received the world's praise, but things weren't what they seemed. The Thunderbolts were actually the Masters of Evil, a group of Avengers villians lead by Baron Zemo. The members included Meteorite/Moonstone, Mach-1, Songbird, Fixer, Atlas and Jolt. Zemo wanted to take over the world that now had no heroes, but the others soon saw the light side and turned on him. When the FF and Avengers returned, they became Marvel's most wanted. Hawkeye soon left the Avengers to take the Thunderbolts under his wing and lead them to become the heroes they wanted to be. In the late part of the run, Marvel decided to try a new take and with #76 the Thunderbolts vanished to be replaced by a 'Fight Club' version with all-new characters and art style. This premise did not go well and the series was cancelled. The Thunderbolts could have been in limbo but Marvel listened to the fans and an Avengers/Thunderbolts mini-series was printed in 2004. After the disbandment of the original Avengers and the start of the New Avengers, the Thunderbolts returned in a new series, called...New Thunderbolts! Sadly Hawkeye couldn't make it since his death in the Disassembled storyline. This new team features Mach-3, Songbird, Atlas and new members, Radioactive Man, Speed Demon, Blizzard, Joystick and Captain Marvel. New Thunderbolts also featured sub-numbering, so #1 was also #82! After issue #18 (99), the series returned to original numbering with a mega-sized #100 issue and returning the original title, Thunderbolts!
