Ms. Marvel #23 Apr 1979 & Vol. 2 #1 May 2006
History: Jan 1977-Apr 1979 #1-23, May 2006-present Vol. 2 #1-p
Summary: Ms. Marvel was the female version of Captain Marvel, the Kree warrior. Carol Danvers was an ordinary human but with exposure to a strange Kree device, gained the powers of super-strenght, flight and a seventh-sense to warn her of danger. Ms. Marvel was flying high until her series was abruptly cancelled. Issues #24 & 25 had been written and drawn and were later reprinted in Marvel Super-Heroes Vol. 2 #10-11 in 1992. Ms. Marvel went to join the Avengers after her series ended but it was short-lived as she left to join Marcus in limbo. But Carol soon learned she was being mind-controlled to stay with him and escaped. She no sooner returned to Earth when she was attacked by the mutant Rogue, who stole her powers and memories for good. Carol stayed with the X-Men and during a battle with the alien Brood, she was given powers that connected her with a white star and became Binary. Carol then joined the Starjammers in space for a time, before returning to the Avengers. Carol renamed herself Warbird and started working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. After House of M, Carol began examining her potential and became a full-time superhero again, taking on the Ms. Marvel title again and starring in a new series.
Here are the covers to the unprinted Ms. Marvel #24 & 25, later reprinted complete in Marvel Super-Heroes Vol. 2 #10 & 11. On the cover of #25, the logo and trade dress has been Photoshopped in. Issue #25 ended on a cliffhanger with a battle with Pyro, so a few additional pages were added, and an extended sequence showing Carol after returning from limbo with Marcus and being attacked by Rogue. Issue #25 would have been the first appearance of Pyro, Avalance, Destiny, Rogue, Harry Leland, Donald Pierce and Tessa. Sebastian Shaw was behind the scenes. All characters, save Rogue, made their official first appearances in the X-Men comics.
