Square Electronic Arts, the main producer/publisher of all Squaresoft titles in North America, announced yesterday that Final Fantasy X for the PlayStation 2 Console will start shipping limited quantities to retail stores nation-wide on December 26, 2001, instead of the originally planned January 2002.Final Fantasy X was released in Japan on July 19 and sold through 90% of the 2.14 million units that were shipped in the first four days. (wow!!) It is the first PlayStation 2 title to reach the 2 million-unit mark.
On December 15th, Square Electronic Arts will also be holding a special one-day only event giving Final Fantasy Fans around the world a chance to give Final Fantasy X a sample before its release on December 26. This special demo will be held inside the world's only PlayStation store, located at 4th & Mission streets in San Francisco. (For those of you who actually live there :D) In addition, consumers will have a chance to win prize packages and receive a free Final Fantasy related promotional item, while supplies last.Final Fantasy X will be released in DVD format and will be compatible with the Dualshock 2 analog controller. The game should cost around $50(US).
