| Jumping Rope in Alexandria In the very begining of the game, Vivi encounters some children at play. They are jumping rope, and they offer to let Vivi Join in. This game may seem easy at first, but don't get cocky. The girls start swinging the rope faster after 20 jumps, and after 50 jumps, increases even more, and more so after 100 jumps. Once you reach 200 jumps, they twirl the rope at little slower for you, but they change up the timing in which you must press X. Speed after that remains the same. There are a few prizes you can win from this game. :: 20 jumps gives you 10 Gil. :: 50 jumps gives you :: 100 jumps gives you :: 200 jumps gives you :: 300 jumps gives you :: 1000 Jumps gives you a "King of Jump Rope" title, which is a Key item. Mr. Morids Coffee Before heading to Dali on the first Disc, go over to the Observatory Mountain.(it looks like a windmill). Mr. Morrid will be there, and he seems to want some coffee. What you have to do is find 3 different coffee beans before the the end of Disc 3, and Mr. Morrid will give you something in return. Moccha Coffee: South Gate entrance near the Chocobo Forest. Kirman Coffee: Madain Sari in Eiko's house. Burman Coffee: When the Card Tournament is going on in Treno, you must leave and head back to Dali through the South Gate. Go to the mayors house (he isn't there right now) and search his house for a key. (don't run through the house, you don't want to wake the sleeping boy). Search the Mayors desk to find a Mini Brahne, then search it 2 more times til the boy goes "Zzz". Search the stove to find the key, then leave. Go to the lock door in the windmill to find a chest. Open it twice to find 30,000 gil and Burman coffee. Return to the Observatory and give Mr. Morrid the coffee. He will let you have the Mini Prima Vista ship. Return to Lindblum and go to Tantalus hideout and you'll find the Mini Prima Vista sitting near the bed. Chocobo Hot and Cold Game Final Fantasy 9, as previous FF's do, features those feathery little chocobo's we've grown to love over the past few years. And this time, you can play with them. The Mini Game is called Chocobo Hot and Cold. For participating in this event, you can gain prizes and awesome treasures to add to your inventory. For a full guide for this Side quest, check out Chrono229's guide to: Chocobo Hot and Cold posted by Game Faqs. Saving Mognet Central During disk 3, you can help save Mognet Central after Mogrika announces in Esto Gaza that Mognet Central is officially down. You will notice that non of the moogles from this point onward will have letters for you to send to various moogles around the world, unless you do something about it. You must first locate Mognet Central. To find it, you must get a REEF chocobo, so you can reach the island. Click here for a map to the location of Mognet Central. It's a Yellow Star on the map, and its located North of the Outer Continent. Once you reach that Island. look for a Crack on one side of a Mountain. Once found, face the crack while on Choco and use a Dead Pepper (Hit the Triangle Button when your on Choco, you must have at least one dead pepper in your inventory). This will reveal a mysterious cave. You have now found Mognet Central. Get of Choco and enter the cave. Inside you will find many different moogles, but most of them aren't of much importance. The only exception is upstairs, where you'll find Artemicion, the owner of the famous Mognet Central. He tells you that Mognet Central is broken, and needs a certain "thing" to fix it. He also says that he used all of it to make his coat shine.... You must leave and depart for Alexandria and head toward the Bell tower. Kupo should be there. Talk to him, and he'll give you a letter to take to Atla, which is located in Burmecia, near the back of the town. She gives you a letter to give to Mogryo, in the Black Mage Village. Head over there and she should give you a letter for Kummol to read. Head northwest to Ispen's Castle, and give the moogle the letter, she will trade it for a letter to Mois. Now is where it gets kinda tricky. You have to go to Qu's Marshe with with Quina in your party. Then, head to the back of the marshe and take the special root to Fossil Roo. Mois will be there, so give her the letter and take hers. Go to Noggy, which is located in Daguerreo. She will tell you to give a letter to Kupo and she will read it, and tell you that you need an item to fix mognet, which happens to be located in Alexandria. Go to Ruby's theater and talk to Ruby. She will give you the Superslick keyitem. With this in hand, you can save Mognet! Return to Mognet Central and talk to Artemicion. He'll use the Super slick, and Mognet will be up and running once again. For all that, he'll give you a protect ring, an excellent accessory. Land Spirits of Gaia: Friendly Monsters Throughout Gaia, you will sometimes bump into nice little spirits on the world map that want something for you to give to them. You will know that you have found one, because the regular battle music is replaced by a sweet and soft sounding tune. Friendly Monster :: Information :: Brown Squirrel Search Around Dali. Wants 1 Ore. Ghost Plains outside Treno or by The top level of South Gate. Demands 1 Ore. Color Ladybug Search the forest around the Black Mage Village. You will find her there, and wants 2 Ore from you. Yeti The Forest just outside of Madain Sari. Also wants 2 Ore. Green Nymph I'm almost positive that she is located by The Iifa Tree. There is a forest not too far away from the tree. This one asks for 3 Ore. Jabberwock Forest east of Oeilvert. It wants an Emerald, which you get from the Green Nymph. Green Feather Circle This one may be a little hard to find, it is located on the Lost Continent. Search the Chocobo Tracks. Wants a Moonstone. Rainbow Garuda Go to Gizamaluke's Grotta and climb the vine located by the 2 Moogles. Outside, search the area. It wants a Lapis Lazuli. Friendly Yan On the Outer Continent, this one is found in the Forest of Vile Island. I would recommend that you save before heading out there, because the enemies out there are very tough. They may seem cute, but beware, they can wipe out any party member at once. You may be wondering what all this is good for. Well, it has many rewards. First off, each monster gives you a huge amount of AP. So if you need to learn some good abilities, this is a great way. Another good thing about this is that if you choose to feed the friendly Yan, it gives the ability to physicly attack Ozma the super though boss of FF9. This is a great reward in itself. Frog Catching with Quina The dining-clad Quina Quen loves to catch frogs, and every time you enter a marshe with her in your party, she will ask to catch a few. Let her do so, and a little mini game will take place. You have unlimitted time to catch any frogs which jump on land. Just press "X" when they stray of the watery parts. But one thing to take note of, if you catch every frog in one area, it will take a very long time for the marshe's to repopulate with frogs. So make sure you leave one male and one female, so they can repopulate the area faster. Also, the more frogs you catch, the better the rewards. After a certain amount of frogs are caught, Quale (Quina's Master) comes and rewards Quina for her hard work. ---- 2 Frogs: Ore Stone 5 Frogs: Ether 9 Frogs: Silk Robe 15 Frogs: Elixir 23 Frogs: Silver Fork 33 Frogs: Bistro Fork 99 Frogs: Quale will appear and challenge you to a fight. Defeat him and recieve Quina's best weapon, Gastro Fork ---- Stellazzio Around Gaia, you will find special Zodiac Coins in various locations. (2 Pumice pieces to get a Pumice for Ark). Ozma: FF9's Super Boss Final Fantasy 9 has a option boss that you can take on, but it's a challenge only for those FF9 pro's. This guy is really hard, and you must prepare well for it. This is what I recommend. Make sure your characters are near or above the level 67. Make sure EVERY party member has protection against SHADOW magic. In fact, make it so shadow magic heals you, by equiping items that absorb shadow. This is really important, because with Ozma's Doomsday attack uses Strong Shadow Magic. This can be great for your party, since it will probably heal you completly. This is one attack you want him to use. Ozma is VERY fast. He can cast 3 times in a row if he wants to. So, if you want to compete with him speed wise, make sure everyone has Auto-Haste equipped. If you can, try to use HP+10 or HP+20. The extra Hit Points will help a lot, since most of Ozma's attacks can wipe you out in one turn. He also causes a variety of Status effects. Protect against them by using abilities. The most important onces (in order from most important to least) is: Clear Headed, Insomniac, Antibody, and locomotion. Also, Auto-Life is a must. Ozma will wipe you out at least once, use auto-life to counterattack this. Try and get everyone's best weapon. Especially Steiners Ragnarok. This weapon can cause 9999 points of damage with Shock. But, you may not be able to use it much. Make sure the magic users have as much MP as possible. Use abilites like MP+ or MP half. Auto-Reagen is a definite plus if you can afford it. I would definitly try and equip it with everyone. With Ozma's long spells, your health can be completly restored by the time there over. This boss is really tough, so don't expect to beat him in one try. I have a few tips on how to beat him in battle: Go into battle almost tranced. This is important. Once in battle, one attack should get you going, so go all out here. When tranced, hold nothing back. When you first enter the battle, Ozma will probably cast Curse on you. This is not good. In fact, it sucks. It's his worst attack. Not only can it kill you in one blow, but it causes many different status effects to the survivors. At this point, auto-life should kick in now, so with your current survivors use as many Remedys as needed. It is recommended that you use remedy's even when your not cursed, because Ozma can attack several times in a row, and most probably one of those is a Curse. With the Remedys already selected, you will be cured of status effects. Also, the same goes for Cure spells (if you have Eiko or Dagger in your party). Even if you have full health , use a Curaga. You must "read" Ozma well, and he will probably cast a strong spell on you. If you have selected Curaga before hand, you should be completly healed. When you feel you have the chance, use a VERY STRONG attack or spell. Don't waste a turn using a mediocure spells or attacks, it is much safer if you use a cure spell or remedy even if your in perfect health. That can change in a matter of seconds. You make think of this as strange, but use Zidane for healing with items. use remedy's constantly. Like I have said before, use a remedy even if your not even hurt. Precaution is better then cure. When he is tranced though, batter him with Grand Lethal. This is a major damage dealer. When Ozma uses Doomsday, take a time to rest your thumbs. This attack should heal you all the way, since you absorb shadow magic (if you setup your equipment right). This attack attacks everyone on screen, so it has the possibility of hurting Ozma, but strangely enough, sometimes it heals him, so keep your fingers crossed. For me, Ozma killed himself with this attack, so I guess luck is a big factor. You may feel that you aren't doing much damage to him. But don't worry, as long as you use your strongest attacks when you can, you'll do fine. He doesn't have a huge amount of HP, so this battle ends quicker then you think. Just constantly heal and hope for doomsday, and you'll survive. |
