Back to homepage Gold saucer
Battle Square:
This is one of the best areas in the gold saucer, the battle arena. Test
your might against up to eight random battles. One member can take
part in this fight for victory by paying 10GP (not Gil) and win very
valuable prizes. You will have handicaps after every fight in the
whole battle. Be careful, or you may lose yourself a sure victory.
After any win in the battle, you can have the option to either keep
fighting, or quit while you're ahead. Any Battle Points you have
accumulated during the battle will then be awarded to you, just be sure
not to leave the Battle Arena if you have earned a lot of points, for
they will all be lost once you leave. You can not save up Battle
Points if you leave the Arena.
If you are
defeated in the Arena, you will not actually be killed, but you will be
thrown out of the fight and all of your Battle Points earned for that
battle will be lost, not to mention the 10GP you paid to fight.
Before
going in to a fight, pick the character you want to fight with and equip
him/her with the stronger Materia that you have and the strongest
weapons he/she may have. If you plan to live long in the Battle
Arena, the Ribbon Accessory is a MUST HAVE! This stops any
negative effects monsters in the fight may put on you or the Mini, Frog,
or Poison effects you may acquire through handicaps.
Equip
Materia slots with the Restore, Time, Counter, and Barrier Materia.
Also Flash and 4x Hit come in real handy against the last opponents in
each battle. Even if you have all these Materia equipped, if you
hit the All Materia Broken Handicap, you can forget the victory unless
you are a very strong and skilled fighter.
The first
item you should save up your Battle Points for is the W-Summon Materia.
After getting this, it will be a breeze to beat more enemies in the
Battle Arena so you can then save up to get Cloud's Level 4 Limit Break,
Omnislash.
After
collecting W-Summon, Omnislash, and 64,000 Battle Points, you are
offered to fight in special battles where you can win Gambler, Masamune
Blade, Combat Diary, and Autograph.

Chocobo Racing:
Chocobo
Racing is a hard thing to do unless you have the right chocobo.
You should either race with a Great Chocobo, Wonderful Chocobo, Green
Chocobo, Blue Chocobo, Black Chocobo, or preferably, the legendary
GOLDEN CHOCOBO.
After
winning several S Class Chocobo Races, you will be rewarded with the
Cat's Bell, Counter Attack Materia, Precious Watch, and The Choco
Bracelet.
You should
feed your chocobo greens, greens, and more greens to get their speed,
stamina, and intelligence all to the max before you even worry about
being in a race. Once you do all this, you should race until you
get to the S-Class Chocobos for the really good prizes. There are two
cheats for the chocobo racing:
hold L2, L1, R2, R1 all at the same time, this slowly increases your
chocobos
stamina.
hold L1, R1 this increases your chocobos speed
Speed Arena:
If
you are ready for some fast-paced fun and excitement, visit the Speed
Arena. This is a roller-coaster game of fast reflexes, and laser
accuracy. To gain points, you need to shoot targets that appear
throughout your ride. Try not to press the shoot button or a long
time, instead, use rapid fire taps on the button to really crank up your
score.
If you
prove that you have what it takes to master the Speed Arena, you can get
your name posted in the Speed Arena High Score Computer and get some
really really good prizes.
Wonder
Square:
If you love arcades, the Wonder Square is the place for you. This place is packed with games such as:
Arm Wrestling Mega Sumo:
where you can challenge either a Sumo Wrestler, or a Wrestler. The
Sumo Wrestler is a little easier than the Wrestler, but both are easy to
defeat. Just tap the "O" button until you pin his arm
down.
Super
Dunk: is another game to play. In this game,
you have to shoot a large basketball at a basketball hoop.
This is also fairly easy if you have good timing. Just hold the
"O" button down for just less than a second to charge your
shot and release it. If done correctly, you will SHWOOSH it and
1GP will be yours for the taking. If you make 10 in a row, you get
a double play where if you make a shot, you get 2GP, but if you miss,
you start all over again.
Wonder
Catcher: is the simplest game in Wonder Square.
All you have to do is insert 100 Gil and receive either a small amount
of GP, a Potion, or 1GP.
3D
Battler: is a game of strategy. You have to
pick an attack pattern to fight an opponent. He will either punch
you in your head, stomach or lower body and you have to counter those
with another hit. The Triangle button is for Upper body, the
Square button is for Middle body, and the X button is for Lower body.
HAVE FUN!
Fortune
Telling: isn't really a game, but for 50 Gil you can
have your "Fortune" told. Don't play it more than once
in a row per visit because the message won't change unless you leave
that portion of Wonder Square. If you want another fortune on the
same visit, just leave and come back in.
Mog
House: is a game where you have to teach Mog to fly.
If you give Mog too many Nuts, he won't fly and your game is over.
You need to watch his reactions. If he rubs his tummy, then he
wants another Nut, but if he has had plenty to eat, he'll squeak and get
up and fly. If you defeat Mog House, the girl behind you will give
you 30GP.
G
Bike: is just like the bridge escape. You need
to keep the enemy Shinra Bikers from attacking the little blue
truck/buggy. If you successfully do this, you will receive either
just Gil or Gil and an Item.
Snow
Boarding: is just like the escape from Icicle Inn.
You need to avoid the Mogs and the Snowmen. If you successfully
make it down the mountain and still have a lot of points, you will
receive a prize.
Torpedo
Attack: is like the race to sink the Shinra Submarine
that was carrying the Huge Materia earlier in the game. During
your battle, check your radar to find all the enemy subs then seek them
out and destroy them. If you destroy all the subs it requires you
to without getting sunk, you will get prizes.
