The team took the field last night to do battle against "Twisted", with 12 eager and able Insult'ers prepared to dominate the opponent. After a brief rain shower delayed things a bit we went through some warmups and then learned that Twisted could only field 7 players, so there could be no official game.

At that point we loaned them a couple of players and played a 4-inning scrimmage game. The scrimmage was fun as players approached the "practice" loosely. We actually lost by a run in the bottom of the fourth but it really didn't matter.

Without going into a lot of details, I'll point out that John did an excellent pitching job, that Bill Mitchell and Kathy were a little too good playing for their side, and that Billy Masson went 3 for 3 (homers that is), Billy A. went 3 for 3 (1 homer), Bob O. went 2 for 2, and Bob F. & Sharon went 2 for 3.

After the scrimmage we had a beer and then 8 players and fans (including the first trip in a long time for John) headed to Palumbos to finish what beer we had (since the liguor store was closed) and have some pizza. A fun time as always.

It's not clear how this "non-game" will be handled. the league is generally against forfeits (as am I) but there are some conditions (like the fact the we used, and will have to pay for, an ump, and the number of games we've still got left to play in 6 - 8 weeks) that may make it reasonable not to reschedule the game against "Twisted". I'll let you all know how it turns out.
