A child star in her early days of acting, Norma became an MGM player for most of her career. She was once married to the "boy genius of MGM" Irving Thalberg, until he died in 1936. She lived quite a normal life after her time in films and continued to live in the Hollywood area until her death in 1983. |

This is Norma in Marie Antoinette, 1936, just shortly after the death of her husband Irving Thalberg. As a happily married couple, the film was a bittersweet tribute to her late husband. |

Norma starred in one of my all time favorite screwball comedies, Private Lives (1931). Noel Coward wrote this famous 1 Act play, and since then, it has been filmed several times, but this version is the definitive. Starring Robert Montgomery and Norma Shearer. |
