stanley kubrick biography
with strong thought-provoking themes and elaborate composition, kubrick intrigued audiences and critics alike.  he was born in new york city and at the age of sixteen "look" magazine hired him as a free-lance photographer.  kubrick made his first documentary film, "days of the flight" in 1950 with his own savings.  it wasn't until 1957 when kubrick released his first major studio film, "paths of glory."  through the next several decades he would produce his visions on film, exploring psychological and social themes and doing so by covering so many different genres.  kubrick died on march of 1999 after finishing his final cut for "eyes wide shut."
