Joyce Jimenez

A star like Joyce is a definite boxoffice breaker who can demand equal billing to any male lead. By now, it's safe to assume that any movie that stars the siren is a sure hit.During the shoot of Joyce's soontobereleased movie under Viva Films "Biyaheng Langit," the cast and crew could hardly keep up with her energy. She likes making fun of her lines, even playing jokes on the crew that sends everybody laughing like crazy. ³They love her,² movie director Tikoy Aguiluz quips. "She is so easy to work with. The whole crew is so used to her." When asked what the real Joyce Jimenez is like, she simply says "what you see is what you get," flashing the eartoear grin that drives the male species to high heavens. The sexy star admits that she¹s a pretty laid back person. "I like staying home when I¹m not too busy. I try to catch up with my sleep. I like going out too," she says. "I'm very simple and easy to please. I'm not as bitchy as the characters I portray." Like most newcomers, she started out doing bit roles in movies. "I did a total of seven."

She was discovered in the Miss PhilippinesHollywood beauty pageant in 1996 where a talent manager Shirley Kwan was one of the judges. Shirley then told Joyce to make sure that they touch base when she visits the Philippines. "Next thing I knew, I was already doing "Scorpio Nights 2," she says. Since then, Joyce has been typecast as the sexy siren who drives men wild. But contrary to the character she portrays, Joyce was brought by conservative parents. "I grew up on Filipino morals and values. My dad is superstrict, and so is my brother. I was born and raised in L.A. I lived there for 17 years. It was a typical Filipino household for us. The only difference is, I've been exposed to other cultures. We were taught respect for elders, first and foremost." In a way, she gives herself a pat on the back for adjusting perfectly to the demands of her career. "It was hard in the beginning but I'm used to it now."

Yes, she couldn't care less if heads turn whenever she walks into a room. "In this business, I've learned to accept the fact that everybody will be curious of everything that I do, what I eat, where I go, who I'm dating. Sanay na ako, eh." Joyce Jimenez is paired with Mark Anthony Fernandez in "Biyaheng Langit," a sexaction flick written and directed by Tikoy Aguiluz. This latest Viva production is the comeback movie of Mark Anthony Fernandez after two years of inactivity in filmmaking. Joyce Jimenez, on the other hand, was greatly missed after her unforgettable portrayal of Richard Gomez's mistress in "Linlang." "I enjoyed making this movie because it practically has all the elements of an exciting film. It has drama, action, suspense, at siyempre may love scenes din kami dito," she naughtily says.
