THE GAIT AND THE PACE OF THE FILA

THE FELINE'S GAIT

THE GAIT - A strong, even gait is desirable in all breeds. The Fila Brasileiro moves very smoothly, twisting his whole body in a "S" motion when walking due to his typical pace, placement of the shoulders, and hind legs angulation. This breed has an enormous flexibility all over the body and its way of walking resembles the way big cats move (feline's gait).

THE CAMEL'S PACE

THE PACE - His main characteristic is the "camel pace" or so called "camel's gait". This movement pace is a two-beat lateral gait, in which the legs on each side move back and forth as a pair, causing a rolling or rocking motion in the dog's body. Structure and proportion have a direct influence on a dog's pace. This sort of action is sometimes called "side-wheeling".
