Vocaloid figma Megurine Luca by MaxFactory - Now available!

After a two year absence, Max Factory has decided to pick up this title again for their 82nd poseable figure with Luka as the fourth Vocaloid character to be released in figma form. Your only other choices have been the star Hatsune Miku and the twins Kagamine Rin and Len, all of which were released in late 2008.

What Toys Are Up To: Girls with guns are always hot

I hate to rely on an old standby, but it's really true -- girls with guns are just super hot. It's one of the facts of life, and I suppose we just have to accept it. At any rate, I really dig this shot of the Miku and Luka Figmas (reviewed: Miku | Luka) wielding huge guns and looking like badasses. I want you ladies on my team if the apocalypse goes down! What else have we got for you in the gallery this week? Lots of customs! After all, Wonder Fest is just around the corner, so the garage kit artists are out in full swing. There's also fun with Figma and Revoltech, and Woody (reviewed) makes an appearance as always. Don't miss some rad Miku customs in the gallery as well, which I bet we will get a closer look at come WonFes time. What pics do you like best?

Alter's 1/8 Test Suit Asuka Langley Shikinami

The announcement of Alter's Asuka seemed like a dream come true. My favorite character, produced by my favorite company, and sculpted by my all-time favorite sculptor (Yagyu Toshiyuki)?! I mean, it was like a dream. I pre-ordered without hesitation (though to be honest, I am a bit trigger-happy with the old pre-order button!), and waited with anticipation for her release.
But Kotobukiya released their stunning Test Suit Asuka a bit before Alter, and after I got Koto's version I had some nagging suspicions about the Alter version. It just didn't look ... well, quite like Asuka. Now, I am all for alternate character interpretations, non-standard faces and the like, but this was Alter's Asuka. The definitive Asuka! Or so I had built her up to be in my mind. So before she arrived, my opinions were very mixed. But I try my hardest not to judge a figure until it is in my hands, so hit the jump to see if I ended up loving or hating this particular version of everyone's favorite red-headed tsundere!
