Downstairs
The downstairs area consists of a single, unpartitionned room of some 30 square meters on split levels that comprises a dining area, a lounging corner, the two original fireplaces, the kitchen and a mezzanine with a double mattress.
The mezzanine is built with the reclaimed cedar beams from the old roof that had to be taken down, while the ceiling beams are made of cypress tree trunks brought as such from Mytilini and sawn in the boatyard sawmill in Rhodes.

The floor is laid up with sandstone tiles, imported from Syria.

There is no air conditionning downstairs but fans give sufficient ventilation for a comfortable night sleep on the mezxanine futon mattress.
Below the mezzanine, the sofa is large enough for two people to camp on the L shaped matresses.

This rather cosy area is however made mainly for lounging about
The kitchen is a couple of feet above the main floor of the house. It is fully equipped, with an electric hob and oven and a large fridge freezer. The rather cold glare of the attached picture does not however show it under its best light...
The dining table is immediately on the right of the entrance, while  the old cooking and baking fireplace with its characteristic hooded shape is on the left hand side.
A few steps cut in the bedrocks on which the house is built give access to the kitchen, and a furher flight of stone steps lead to the back yard, the bathroom and the open stairway to the upstair bedroom.
