How to Build a Rolling Thick Handle

I found it easiest to start with a crossover weightlifting handle, as shown above. I had one already, that I occasionally used it for combat twists. I think they are about ten dollars, new. I made an attempt at making one using only PVC pipe, however, the device didn't roll very well. The process is similar to making a thick handle dumbbell. If you haven't read those articles, you may want to start with them. It would make understanding this one easier.

First I measured and cut a PVC pipe, so it would be slightly shorter than the rolling part of the crossover bar. I then cut the PVC pipe the LONG way. This makes it possible to slip the PVC pipe over the rolling part of the handle. The next step, is to tape one end of the PVC pipe in place, making sure it is centered. Then simply fill the PVC with post hole cement and add water. I waited a couple of day to try it out. It works great! I don't know how it compares to the real rolling handle, because I haven't tried one. But, I will say it seem very challenging! I will have a picture of the finished product, soon. I made mine with 2 inch PVC pipe. This creates an outer diameter of 2 3/8 inches. The same as the real one.

Happy Lifting!!
