Midnight Disease ...

the inability to waste time sleeping when there are articles to finish; chapters to complete; and a plethora of ideas swimming in your head at 2 a.m.

for writers everywhere... fighting the good fight until 4 a.m. everyday just to get some peace (and a finished story or at least a first draft).  :)

Marriott Courtyard - Magnificent Mile
Chicago,  IL

This hotel passes my "white sock" test, has a very convenient location to many tourist areas, locations of convenience, shopping, and dining, and provided a wonderful base for our travels throughout Illinois and Indiana.

Our family wore our white socks indoors and they were still new looking when taken off at the end of the day.  We stayed at this hotel the week of May 23, arriving by air from Orlando.  I shopped around for a perfect location, rumored to be good for kids, shopping, and clean, with amenities.  This one fit the bill.  The entrance is marble and very very nice, with the "Viand" Restaurant in the lobby.  On arriving after several delays, at 9p, we went to the room and immediately ordered room service from Viand.  The meals were AWESOME.  The food was yummy, hot, and quickly bought to the room.  It is pricier than say McDonald's, but right in line with any other steak house.  The beds were a little too starchy the first night, but they give you the option not to have the sheets changed every day, and we didn't and the subsequent nights, the sheets got much softer.  The beds were very comfortable, the down pillows and duvet were so welcome at the end of a shopping excursion.  Shower was BEAUTIFUL, great water pressure, VERY CLEAN.  Lots of towels provided.
