FIGHTIN' FARMERS 2008 COLLEGE DRAFT PAGE
"With no first rounders, the Farmers didn't get that sudden impact player but their draft could be much more solid than it looks on paper. Given time and patience, they may have found a gem or two that can contribute down the road..." Chris Mortensen, ESPN

FARMERS
PLAYER /POSITION -------------Rd/Overall-- COLLEGE--

Bruce Davis/LB -----------------6/112-----------UCLA

William Franklin/WR----------8/152-----------Missouri
Patrick Lee, CB
6-0, 201 Senior
The Farmers were taken by Lee's physical style of play at cornerback. With excellent size, speed and footwork, Douglass believes Lee has all the necessary tools to become a starting NQFL cover man. With a reputation of being fast, smart and tough, the Farmers expect Lee to matchup well with bigger WRs they face in the West Division. Lee was also member of winningest senior class in school history.
Quentin Groves, OLB
6-3, 254 Senior
An athletic defender who combines speed and quickness with developing strength,  Groves has ability to be a fulltime playmaker in the NQFL. A first-team, All-SEC selection at DE, Groves led the conference with 23 QB pressures. MidState coach Oliver Wendall Douglass says Grove should have no trouble making the shift to OLB, a spot where the Farmers have lacked tenacity the past two seasons.
Jeremy Zuttah, G
6-4, 303 Senior
A versatile lineman, Zuttah could provide help at just about any position on the Farmers OL. Though a projected guard, Zuttah started at tackle the past two seasons. He also saw time at center and guard for the Scarlet Nights. Zuttah did not allow a sack the past two seasons. The Farmers were impressed with Zuttah's Combine workout. Given the right opportunity, don't be surprised to see Zuttah starting somewhere on MidState's OL by 2010.
Trevor Laws, DT
6-3, 304 Senior
Law should be a great fit for the Farmers defense on the interior line. The second-team All-American brings bulk and adds depth at  a position where MidState needs to upgrade. Laws may not have been the best available DT in the draft. But Douglass thinks his "relentless motor" will be enough to provide MidState with the disruptive bull-rusher they have beem looking for. Laws led ND with 112 tackles and was the only down lineman in major college football to surpass 100 tackles in 2007.
