Parents, the Rugby Club and Coaches would like to have your help making this season our best yet. I'm sure you've been wondering when we would be asking for capable volunteers for some specific responsibilities. That time is now. We need help with the following jobs:
First, the Club needs to provide a Certified Athletic Trainer, EMT or other appropriate medical professional for a couple of our matches. Please let us know if you can do this or put us in contact with one. Also, we need a "team" of 2 or 3 parents per match to be available to help with minor situations that might arise, nothing technical. Just watch the ice and the first aid kit.
Next, we need a parent or two to help distribute uniforms, water and equipment when we arrive at the pitch, and to collect Club equipment at the end of the match.
Thirdly, we need a few parents to direct the Huggers (student supporter organization) in preparing and hosting the post-match socials (cookouts) for both teams. These take place immediately after the matches that are designated as our "Home" matches. We will post these on the "Schedule" page as soon as we know them. These social coordinators will also be asked to contact other parents to donate cookout items for these events (a pack of hot dogs, a bottle of drink) to keep our Club costs down.
Lastly, we need a parent committee to advise and help facilitate successful, significant fundraising. This has been the Club's area of greatest weakness in the past (the coaches have been covering many costs). Contact Mr. Thielke directly if you have ideas.
A related item: The Coaches would like to plan a social event specifically for parents, in order for the coaches and parents to get to know one another. Look for information from your rugger, and, if you have any suggestions, please e-mail or relay them as soon as possible.
