| Petlyakov-2 1941 The Pe-2 was a fast twin engine light bomber used by the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic war. Unlike many of the Russians obsolete aircraft the Luftwaffe found the Pe-2 difficult to catch and destroy. | The La-7 was the progressive development of the previous La-5, which was very similar but having one less cannon and a lower speed by 10 m.p.h. | CFS2 Lavochkin La5-FN. The La-5 entered service in 1942. In its developed La-5FN version it was superior to the German fighters at low and medium altitudes. Its disadvantages were primitive equipment, a bounce-inducing undercarriage, and in the early stages very poor production quality. 9920 were built.
