Maryland Judicial Equality Committee

Revenge v. Justice

Whose agenda is the real issue, men, women, children or the human race?

There is no denial that women as a group have been and continue to be exploited, treated with less respect and dignity as they deserve as human beings, i.e a creation of God. However, there should be no denial that the current Family Law system is exploiting men with a callous disregard to the consequences of their legal judgments. These consequences have been devastating to children. Feminists continue to insist on making up for past injustices at the expense of today's individuals and as such we will never arrive at a just and equal society for everyone. The claim of victim status is just a covering for exacting revenge. To insist on making up for the past or excuse current discriminatory tactics based on the past is revenge and revenge begets hatred.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. recognized the counter productive behavior of revenge, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Do feminists have a dream that does not involve justifying inflicting pain and suffering? The difference between revenge and justice is holding people accountable for their actions today to insure a future of peaceful coexistence. This principal was expounded thousands of years ago by the Old Testament, "The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

Our agenda should be the fair and equal treatment of all humans, it is not sexual or racial in nature and when we begin to insist on this, dignity is ensured for everyone. The choice is yours, the hatred of revenge that brings pain and suffering or the love of God that not just demands but inspires us to walk with respect, to be as He is lest we dishonor our Creator and dishonor our fellow creations. "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

I have a Dream, not to have my character, my abilities and my motives be judged by my genetics as a man but on my actions as an individual. Those of us who have experienced pain and suffering are passionate about Equality and that it means Justice. Despite the claims of judicial integrity by the courts, it is actions that prove the intent of the court system, it actions thus far have demonstrated contempt for the individual based on their genetics. Integrity is not achieved by pious words preying upon our deepest hopes, but demonstrated by consistent action.
