OK, I'll take me a while, though.

Mr. Barve,

The issues of Family Law, Children's Rights and Domestic Violence are the concerns of the public. With 50% of marriages ending in divorce, thousands of custody decisions being rendered every year in Maryland and literally hundreds of domestic violence cases coming before the courts, most of your constituents have known or been themselves personally affected by these issues. Even though you are not on the judiciary committee or an attorney, bills do come to the floor to be voted upon. Your beliefs and knowledge of the subject will indicate the manner in which you may represent the people of your district.

We request that you complete the questionnaire for the public's benefit as all the other candidates will be doing. Since you have been endorsed by NOW and NARAL in the past, your responses would also of great interest to them as well.

Congratulatons! You guys win the prize in the category of: "Most
complex questionnaire from an organization I've never heard of".

I am not an attorney, I do not serve on the judiciary and I never deal
with your issues until they get to the full House of Delegates. But, still, I suspect we agree on most things. Here is a little about me:

 1) Before joining the House of Delegates, I served as the chairman
of Maryland NARAL for four years.
 2) I have always been endorsed by NOW and every other pro-choice
group concerned with the rights of women in our society.
 3) I was a co-sponsor the bill which added "sexual
orientation" to the list of groups protected by our state civil rights laws.
 4) I strongly supported the Constitutional Amendment that allows
women to get protective orders 24/7.

Now, I could give your questionnaire to someone who is an expert in
this area of the law (like my girlfriend, Maureen Quinn. She was the lawyer who had the guts to take on Judge Durke Thompson) and have her answer the questions, but that would be dishonest. Besides, despite the fact that she runs the pro-se (is that how its spelled?) clinic in the Montgomery County Courthouse, I doubt that even she could give you a percentage estimate on the number of domestic violence incidents perpetrated by men (although, I would guess it is really close to 100%, then again, how would I know?).

Well, it's 11:06pm and I'm going to bed.
