Fear of Domestic Terrorism

We all should be concerned with the cavalier attitude toward life that Matt Hale espouses in the white supremacist movement, however, he is not alone in his thinking. The nature of group politics is to discount the legitimate views of others, dismiss the humanity of those in not of the preferred group and ignore the pain and suffering inflicted when the preferred group in power gets its way.

Group politics is a tricky thing when you get caught up in it truisms. The question is: whose group has the legitimate worldview and that is the key. All groups have a worldview that universally dismisses individuality, act with self righteousness and define themselves as victims of other groups. All individuals make choices, sometimes those choices are influenced by the group they are en-cultured by and sometimes in reaction to other groups foisting extreme agendas with negative consequences.

There is a consistent thread in all hate groups, that is their perceived victim hood. When people believe they are victims, they can legitimize all inconceivable forms of behavior not normally accepted by anyone or any society. The more a group in power insists on its values at the expense of others, no matter how self righteous and eloquent they are at its justification, the more other groups feel victimized and the more violent they become in opposition. We see this in the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. All relationships form a balance, in this case it is a balance of terror. If we are not careful here in the US, a similar balance of terror will occur. We see the signs of this balance of terror growing with the actions of Timothy McVay, John Malvo and numerous acts of murder and destruction by those individuals who feel that they are victims of bias government decisions affecting their lives.

We should all be concerned, our government has allowed hate groups like Matt Hale's to grow because it has failed to see the danger in promoting group politics. The democratic party and liberals in particular have fanned the flames of self righteousness to fuel victimization by basing it's successes on the combined victimization of many groups. Why are we so busy insisting upon "protected classes" due to past abuses instead of focusing on the present and future with the demand for equal treatment for everyone without excuse? Why, because a victim oriented policy will always punish all individuals regardless of their lack of guilt. The core belief of self righteous bigotry essentially believes all members of the group will act the same given the opportunity, now or in the future. We see this with the government's singling out of Arabs since 9/11. When enough individuals feel victimized they form a group.

Our government has sown it's own seeds of hate when it insisted on discriminatory group policies towards men and women (gender), rich and poor (class), religious beliefs (faith), and race. These policies have been justified by past victimization and have polarized the country. The more police and surveillance you insist upon to achieve security, the more everyone else will feel victimized by the insistence of control over them by a government they perceive as taking their rights for the benefit of the politically correct. We are a nation that has been driven into groups by insisting upon self righteous victim hood. The greater the vilification by the self righteous, the greater the resentment of all individuals of the politically incorrect group. Resentment inevitably begets a response.

The more our government insists on group rights over that of individual rights, the more hate groups will grow. When dealing with hate groups you have two choices: 1. Follow the current policy, make enemies out of everyone not of the preferred group which ultimately drives more people to extreme reactions and solutions, i.e. hate and the final solution or 2. Choose a different path. The path that most religions advocate, address the injustice by showing that individuals cause pain and suffering through selfish behavior. Hate the sin but love the sinner. Good and Evil is an individual choice.
