| Random? I thought so when I first singled out this verse. But it has me thinking. This verse gives us just one of the many times in the Bible where the Lord uses a weakness or handicap to show God's power and do His will. Now you may be thinking, "What is his weakness?" Well, in those days it was frowned upon if you were left-handed. They even mention his left-handedness when he is introduced in Judges 3:12-30, where his story is found. Don't qoute me on this, but I think he is the only person that is introduced as a "left-handed man" in the Bible. But he is definitely not the only person with a weakness that God uses in the Bible. God used a mere shepards boy to kill a giant, that none of the Isrealites could kill (2 Samuel 17). He uses a runaway with faltering lips to free His people from the land of Egypt (Exodus 5:22 - 12:42). He uses a cowardess prophet to get one of the most wicked cities to repent and turn to God (Jonah 1 - 4). And He uses a spotless lamb to save all mankind (Matthew 27:45 - 28:10, Mark 15:21 - 16:20, Luke 23:26 - 24:12, John 19). Even today God uses weaknesses to show His glory. What are some weaknesses you have that God has used? What are some weaknesses others have that you have seen God use for His glory? You may not understand you weaknesses, but God does. Pray that God shows you or helps you understand your weaknesses |
