MEMPHIS GOULASH

1 large onion
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. macaroni
1 lb. hamburger
1 large can kidney beans
1 small can tomato paste
salt
pepper
chili powder
hot sauce
leftover peas

Chop onion and saute in shortening. Add hamburger and
brown. Drain off grease. Cook macaroni in salted water.
Drain; add to hamburg mixture with kidney beans, tomato paste
and seasonings to taste. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Add
peas and warm again. Use frozen peas and add last 7 minutes.
Serves 6.
