CROW'S NEST CEMETERY
Crow's Nest Pioneer Cemetery is in need of restoration. Eli Lilly would have wanted this site taken care of as well as he took care of it. I'm in possession of an article written in 1959 about Crow's Nest Cemetery that's fun reading.
The Eli Lilly residence was constructed in 1930. It was designed by Indianapolis architect, Robert Frost Daggett and modeled after the Maryland plantation where Lilly's grandfather, Colonel Eli Lilly was born. The house is a rustic Colonial Revival, which features walls constructed of gray granite block and features several verandahs. Immediately east of the house is a Lutheran cemetery founded in 1843. Although the cemetery was state owned property, it was meticulously maintained by Eli Lilly as an expression of his appreciation of the history of the Crow's Nest area. East of the cemetery, on land that slopes down toward the White River, is a horse stable and riding track. Before the Second World War, Lilly kept horses at his estate and enjoyed riding for personal pleasure.

I'm really interested in finding more data on JACOB MILLER, buried in Crow's Nest who was in the 42nd Indiana Infantry. No dates were on his marker.
I have a copy of a reading done on 3 June, 1975 by Kate Roper and Granddaughter, Susan Meyers from the Indiana State Library.
