| Biography/Band - Photo Gallery - Audio - Lyrics - Artwork 5th Freedom was founded in August of 2004, when long time friends and bandmates, Jesse Brown, Harry Wynn-Williams, and Paul Nelson, merged with high school drumming phenomenon and former member of The Suspected Collective, Zach Shuster. The band soon began writing original music, aspiring to bridge the gaps between genres and create a fusion of many different styles of music. During the following year they played shows, parties and a many other events around the island of Oahu. The summer following their senior year, they spent 94 hours in the studio recording their self-titled debut. The album was released in early August of 2005 and is currently available. 5th Freedom mixs the best elements of reggae, punk, heavy metal, jazz, and funk to produce their unique and infectious sound. You'll skank to Harry's tight roots basslines, headbang along with Paul's riffs, groove to Zach's funky ass backbeats, and chill to Jesse's mellow but versatile singing. 5th Freedom is unpredictable, unusual, and unstoppable. We'll make the stoner's high, the women sigh, and the babies cry. |

| Zach Shuster has been playing drums singe he was 11. He struggled to hold down a cohesive band with various people throughout his high school career until he co-founded The Suspected Collective in early 2004. He was asked to join 5th Freedom in the summer of '04 and has been playing with them ever since. At the start of summer '05 Zach took his leave of the Suspected Collective and started playing with 5th Freedom full-time. He is currently studying Political Science and Psychology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he spends his free time trying to watch people get it on in the apartment complex across from his 10th story residence window. Zach digs funk, latin, and reggae music. The musicians that have influenced him most are Jose Pastillas of Incubus, Stuart Copeland of the Police, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Michael Shrieve of the original Santana. Zach hates fake people, girls who like that "My Humps" song, Vodka Cranberries, and guys who act really macho to compensate for their anatomical inferiority. |

He's currently studying at the Thornton School of Music, majoring in classical guitar with an emphasis in keeping it real. Some main influences: Trey Anastasio of Phish, Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, Groundation, Allan Holdsworth, Homer Simpson, Mr. T When he's not playing music, Paul enjoys harassing Zach's dog, inspecting his belly button, ingesting hallucinogens, delivery pizza, hot tubs, and a bit of the old ultraviolence. |
