| :Rifle. The 5th Independent Company of Sharp Shooters were issued 1860 7 shot Spencer Repeating Rifles. Because these rifles are expensive, and blank ammunition is very expensive and hard to come by, we us the following 1861 or 1863 Springfield 3-band or 1853 Enfield 3 Band Rifle musket. These also give us fexability to fall in as regular infantry if need be. If you wish, you may get a model 1859 Sharps Rifle as a second rifle for when we are used as Sharpshooters or on skirmish detail. This will allow for more rapid fire, and as used by other Sharpshooter units during the Civil War. (NOTE: Ask Unit Commander before getting a Sharps Rifle) |

| Ask before you buy. You want to make sure you get items that portray our unit and the correct time period. |
Helpful hint: Start with the basic items and add to your impression as time and money allow. You don't have to get everything all at once to get started, many of the members have extra stuff that can be loaned to you when you begin. Don't hesitate to ask. |
