Comments: I absolutely love this song. It is by far one of my two favorites off this album. I think Reese is talking about the vulnerability one faces when they open their heart to love, and facing the difficult question of whether love is worth the risk of being hurt. In isolating ourselves from emotion and building walls inside hearts we avoid that risk of being hurt, but do we really gain more than we lose? Or is it really better to have loved and lost?
It's easy to try to protect ourselves from heartache by hardening our hearts, but in keeping out the bad we also keep out the good... Jesus Christ willingly faced pain and heartache in His love for us...
