Hey, all. If you're as lameXcore as me, you're just now finding out that Roper has released demo mp3s at roperisdumb.com. (Actually, they just went up today, now that I look it up, haha). There are six tracks (five song demos): Hello from Reese, Amplify, You're with Stupid, Red Eye to Miami, Quicksilver, and Hello Lamewads. They're pretty sweet. No, make that really sweet. A lot like Five Iron Frenzy, so long as you dont mind the lack of horns. Which shouldnt be too surprising, since Reese is writing and singing these songs, right? Like he did... a lot... in Five Iron Frenzy... something like that.

Haha. Reese actually releasing mp3s for download. Check them out, and spread the word about Roper to your friends (or enemies, depending on whether or not you like the demo). Album release is October 19!

Later kids, God bless!

I'm sure you've all been posting at the roper board at roperisdumb.com. Good times. But in other news, Brad and Mijon found out Monday that the baby they're expecting is a boy ^_^ Congrats, kids!

I suppose the artist for the new video is Roque Ballesteros, from Wild Brain. I cant find any of the Joe Paradise videos, though. I suppose ScreenBlast stopped archiving them. Blah. Looks good, though.

Later,

(from the FIF mailing list)

4-22-04 - (Where are they now?)

Hello everyone -

I hope you are well. This is Five Iron Frenzy Alumnus Keith invading your inbox again. I was planning on writing a news update / email thing like this 6 months after FIF disbanded, however, today is 5 months to the day. Why one month early? Because this is a great opportunity to remind you that:

*******”The End Is Here” is in stores NOW!!!!! *******

Yeah, you know it already. It’s our last studio album(“The End Is Near”). Plus a recording of our final show. Plus a bonus track. Plus cool new artwork. All for a special low price. Blah, blah, blah. You know this already, so why am I bothering you with the SAME INFO again?

Well, long ago I promised the wonderful people at frenzyboard.com that I would write a little update about what each of the members of FIF have been up to since we stopped working together 5 months ago. This is that update.

First some things about FIF as a whole:

1) We really appreciate all of you who supported us in any way for the 8 years we were together.

2) (Once again) Our last CD, “The End Is Here,” is in stores now.

3) There is still some FIF merchandise available at zambooie.com (Dickies jackets and one style of T-shirt) and Asianmanrecords.com (4 styles of T-shirts).

4) There is a new FIF video for the song “Wizard Needs Food, Badly”, which is almost done. I have seen it and it looks so awesome. It is completely animated and is amazing. The person who is doing most the work on it also does an award winning internet cartoon called Joe Paradise.

5) This video will be seen on our upcoming DVD. Yes, it’s coming out. No, we don’t know exactly when yet, but we will keep you posted. The tentative title for this DVD is “The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy.” Like I said, we will keep you posted with details.

OK, enough jibber-jabber from me. Now, in their own words, here is what everyone else in FIF has to say about what they have been up to these days. Presented in new and exciting ALPHABETICAL ORDER! (FIF is proud to be the first to bring you this amazing new technological advance). Now mortals, listen to the words of the powerful Frenzy Alumni.

***DENNIS CULP

Where are they now file: Dennis Culp

Dennis is living la vida poco with days full of paperbacks and pampers. Melinda gave birth to our son on April 8 (pictures are posted at http://turpentine.net/copeland). She was a champ. Being a dad is cool!!

I'm still working with Glen Galaxy of Soul Junk grinding out music for the vultures. For fun I've been working on songs for the next Brave St. Saturn album among other things. Perhaps a follow up to "Ascents" is in the works.

Life after Frenzy is good, except for the missing all of my friends around the country part.

***NATHANAEL “BRAD” DUNHAM

I just want to thank all of our fans. Your loyalty to us is unbelievable. You say that we blessed you, but we are also truly blessed by you. I hope you carry that loyalty and passion on to someone in your life that needs it.

Right now, I am working at Appliance Factory Outlet. It is going well. Mijon has a little person in her tummy! I am going to be a father! Mijon is sure it will be a boy, but we'll see. I'll try to get you guys some pics of the baby. Mijon is taking basic classes at a community college right now. She wants to either get into business, or teaching. She still works at Starbucks (which has a great pregnancy program). If you are in Denver anytime, I will sell you a dish washer or something. (that's my plug)

***KEITH HOERIG

Hello. Again, I would like to thank all of you who supported us during the FIF years. FIF will always be a good memory for me in large part due to your support.

Lately, I have been spending time with my wonderful fiancee Eryn. We are engaged to be married on July 29, and I am very excited about it. Obviously, wedding planning has been taking up a large part of my time, but it has been very fun.

In addition, I have returned to Metropolitan State College of Denver as a full time student to finish my BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. I have about one year left until I am done.

I also am working part time at a silly job (I park cars for Hertz). It’s not bad, but it is very temporary. It just helps me pay the bills so I can finish school.

Musically I have been playing with my church worship band about once a month. Eryn often leads worship there (she plays piano and sings very well), so I ge t to play music with her, which is something we hope to keep doing in the future. We are talking about starting a band, but have been too busy with other things to pursue it right now. When we do start something, we’ll let you know, we are both excited about future possibilities with that. Right now the two of us like to set up our stuff at her apartment and jam on cover songs like “Renegade” by Styx for our own amusement. Also, I am excited about recording the next BS2 CD.

That’s all. Thanks again! You guys are awesome!

***SONNIE JOHNSTON

Hello everyone, this is Sonnie. Well, here's what I've been up to. My wife Claudia and I recently moved to Portland Oregon and we bought a new house. It's a really big change but we like it here a lot. We bought two dogs, one is a beagle, and the other is a black lab. Also I am getting ready to go back to school. At the end of fall, I will be doing pre production for a new band that im in with Matt T. and Dave from Relient K, and Josh and John of Ace Trouble Shooter. That's pretty much all that's going on. I don't really do anything except wait all week for 24 to come on TV. Man am I addicted to that show. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans that have helped us have some of the best memories we will ever have. We miss you all.

God Bless

Sonnie

***LEANOR “JEFF THE GIRL” ORTEGA

hey hey kids, this is leanor. i have been doing really really well going to school to study sociology and spanish, should be done in a year. i am raising support so i can be on staff at Scum of the Earth Church, its been super rad, snail mail write me and i will fill you in on the Scum happenings. also i am getting married june 20 to stephen miles till. he rocks it in a band called blackblackocean.com and makes me happy!! we have a website you can check out www.dancemexicandance.com, it's mostly his folktronic laptop rock but it also has info on my poetry book. thanks to all of you for your love, sorry if i offended anyone with my crazy comments before When I Go Out on the end is here. love ya, leanor

*** MICAH ORTEGA

Well here's the skinny on me. I have been setting up shop in preparation for a home recording studio. I've called this el Estudio de Ortega which ( I've been told by my computers translator) means the study of Ortega. I originally picked the name as a joke but it turned out it had a pretty relevant meaning in that I have been interested in sound and learning it's behaviors since before five iron. Besides that I'm involved at our church Scum of the Earth which is where I run sound at. I have gone on staff officially and am in the process of raising support for a full time position which will include the studio. My goal is to help mentor younger Christian musicians while being an example of Christ to the non-believers that I record. In addition to that I'm also getting more involved in church sound system consultations which is basically me going to churches that want me to and tweeking their systems to squeeze out all the sound they thought they had in them when they bought them. That way they can stop being talked into buying more stuff that they don't need and learn how to use the stuff they have. And I got a really, really cool dog named Scraps. She is super cool!

Love,
Micah!

***REESE ROPER

What Reese has been doing:

Where is Reese now?

Reese Roper, former lead singer of the band Five Iron Frenzy, has finally kicked his addiction to chimpanzee meat. Also, he has forever quit riding motorcycles on the Junior Pro Motocross Insane Curcuit for People with Mustaches Bigger Than The Rest of Their Faces (JPMICFPWMBTTROTF). No, really he is taking a few classes at college (yuck), and hustling people on the street for their leftover taco bell sauce. He is writing music for his new band "ROPER" with Masaki Liu (famous producer-type guy) for their first album to be released this fall. He plans to be touring with ROPER this fall and says that it will "rock so hard that your face will melt off worse than that dude in Raiders of the Lost Ark." If you are going to attend a concert, please remember to wear your SPF 2000. There is also plans for a third and final Brave Saint Saturn album in the works, to be recorded later this year. He thinks its stupid to name a band after himself, and to counteract this, the website address for his new band is www.roperisdumb.com. Also, you can still buy his poetry book and the ep that comes with it at www.zambooie.com, as soon as he sends them more copies. He hates shameless self promotion, and that, my friends, is why he wrote this whole paragraph in the third person.

***ANDREW VERDECCHIO

Here is what I've been doing. I have been working w/ Scott Kerr (also a former member of FIF) and our band Yellow Second.

We just finished a tour w/ Relient K and The Rocket Summer. We are currently working on a new album and shopping it around to labels. The album is entitled “Altitude”, and we are very excited about it. It is without a doubt the best stuff I've ever worked on. Other than that I've been working a menial job to make ends meet. Thanks to all of you that came to the Yellow Second shows and bought our stuff. Look for us on tour sometime in the late summer.

Thanks
Andy Verdecchio

Hey, all. Keith's selling a bunch of relatively rare stuff on eBay, so go check it out HERE. That's about it. Oh, and don't forget that The End Is Here comes out on the 20th. Oh, yeah, and Reese is quitting Guerilla Rodeo and starting his own project called Roper. Or something. It's nearly 3 am, so I'm not really sure.

God bless, all ^_^

Dear Five Iron Frenzy family,

As of today we are only two months away from Five Iron Frenzy's final project, THE END IS HERE (in stores 4/20/04). The live recording of the final show in Denver came out incredible and makes you feel like you are standing in the front row watching the show. The project also includes The End Is Near CD with an additional studio track added, as well as a poster that documents the final tour.

We wanted to check in with you guys and see if we could get some volunteers to help pass out stickers at a couple of cool tours that are coming up.

If you are planning on going to the SEE SPOT ROCK TOUR (12 Stones, Skillet, Pillar, GRITS, Big Dismal) or the SEA OF FACES TOUR (Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, FM Static, Falling Up) and would be willing to pass out stickers to the fans before the show then drop us an email with your mailing address to: [email protected].

Please put the name of the tour and city you will be attending in the subject of the email so we can sort them properly (ie. See Spot Rock- Birmingham, AL), and then put your name and mailing address in the body of the letter.

We will send stickers to the first two people from each tour city. You can see the schedules of both tours at www.itickets.com.

Thanks for all your help and support of Five Iron and 5 Minute Walk, we are grateful to have the best fans in the world and excited for you to check out THE END IS HERE.

God bless,

Frank

By the way, according to Reese, the "extra song" on TEIH is called "The Cross of Saint Andrew".

And if you havent gotten around to reading this interview with Reese yet, you should. And check out Reese's new label, Ministry of Defense.

Thanks for playing!
-Kristel

02.03.04

I hope everybody got a chance to see Reese and Leanor on the Spoken Word tour. Reese read from a new poetry book, "More Than Paper Thin", which came with a cd with a few readings on it. There were more copies of Leanor's poetry book out, too, as well as poetry from Pigeon John and Alan the Fisherman and a book by Mark Salomon. VERY good stuff. I also got a copy of the Guerilla Rodeo demo, which should be a pleasant surprise for any of you pop-punk fans. I'll try to get lyrics up for that soon.

In other news, Frank Tate released info on "The End is Here" through the FIF mailing list. Pass it on, kids.

Dear FIF Fans,

It has been over 2 months since the final show and the reality that the band is over is just starting to hit me. The farewell tour was such an amazing way for them to say good-bye to the best fans in the world.

I was so proud of the bands exit and their commitment to giving a proper good bye. What other band would actually take a year to say thank you to their fans???

The final show in Denver was as close to a perfect ending as I could imagine.

The 4,000 of you that made it to the show were amazing and made FIF's final show incredibly special. We are all grateful.

The cool news for all of us that love Five Iron is that we recorded the final show. Masaki somehow managed to capture all the energy of the room for a recording that makes you feel like you are right there watching the band.

We are calling the final album THE END IS HERE and it will hit stores on April 20, 2004. In order to capture the whole show we had to use 2 cds and make it a double disc. The second cd will include THE END IS NEAR (which was never in stores) plus an extra song from the studio recordings.

This project is like having a LIVE greatest hits album from FIF and is sure to bring back great memories for all of us. The artwork will include a poster with live shots from each night of the tour.

We want to let everyone know about the project and once again need to ask for help getting the word out. You guys were amazing at telling everyone about Cheeses and the Winners Never Quit farewell tour, so we are going to do a similar campaign for the THE END IS HERE.

There are several ways to help. The first is simply to tell all your friends that THE END IS HERE will be in stores on 4/20/04. The second way is to hit your email list with the info. The third way is to help us pass out stickers.

The sticker campaign last year was incredible; we passed out over 120,000 stickers for the farewell tour. If you would be willing to help get the word but by passing out stickers please send a self-addressed stamp envelope to:

FIF - THE END IS HERE
145 Claybrook
Antioch, TN 37013

Remember to put the self addressed envelope inside of the one you are mailing, so we can just add the stickers and get it back to you.If you'd like more than 10 stickers (and will share them), please add another stamp or two. Our plan is to have the stickers go out on 2/20 so we will have 2 months before the album hits stores. If you want to help with the promo even more you can conntact Sara at:

[email protected]

I also wanted to update those of you that gave for the rescue center in Kenya. When the idea came up about raising money for the street kids in Africa we thought we were being optimistic in trying to raise $40,000.We didn't really know how generous the FIF fans were and the answer even surprised us. You guys were able to raise over $48,000 for the center !!! Because of your generosity we were able to purchase 5 acres in a much nicer area than we originally thought. The land already has a house on it and even more incredible, it already has a water supply. The final paperwork is being done this week and the first kids will move over in mid Feb.

The current house has room for 30 kids, so we will have to build another dorm, which will cost an additional $5000. If any of you are interested in helping with the dorms you can contact the US director at [email protected]

If you want to make a donatation it would go to:

Cornerstone Fellowship/
Attn:
Rescue Center
111c Lindbergh Ave
Livermore, CA 94551

In closing I want to thank you again for all your help in making Five Iron's final year so great, for helping us launch THE END IS HERE and most importantly for giving a new home to some very special kids in Kenya. I truly believe you are the best fans any band has ever had.

Sincerely,

Frank Tate

Shows have already been booked for Reese and Leanor's "Spoken Word" poetry tour. Tour dates will be up at fiveironfrenzy.com soon, but for all you Dallas kiddies, we already know that they'll be at the Door in Fort Worth on January 16th. Mark Solomon, Pigeon John, and Kollin Cable will also be there, so if you're not boycotting the Door, check it out. Good times :) Thanks to Klif for the heads up.

Word on the street is that FIF will be mentioned on South Park tonight. Check out South Park's website on Comedy Central for more info. Thanks to Stones892 on the board for the heads up. I cant make you any guarantees though. Watch at your own risk.

10.22.03

Hey, all! The Colleyville show Saturday was much greatness! We'll see if I ever get the photos from it developed ^_^

There was a lot of cool merchandise at the show, including cds from Yellow Second (Scott Kerr's band) and DJ Mizzicah. Leanor's poetry book has been selling pretty well -- my copy was #405 out of 500 from the first printing, so make sure to grab yours while you still can. In it you'll find the poems that inspired several of Five Iron's songs (like "All That is Good" and "Car"), plus tons of her other writings. It really is a great book.

Also, the Guerilla Rodeo website is now up! Their new demo should be available soon.

I'm currently putting together a Five Iron fanlisting, which should be up by the end of the week. Keep checking at fivestarsellout.com for info on that.

God bless you guys!

From the Five Iron Frenzy mailing list...

Dear Friends of Five Iron

We are now less than one week away from the Winners Never Quit farewell tour. It is hard to believe that after 8 years of touring FIF only has 59 shows left...They are really excited to say good bye to all of you guys, so we hope you can make it out. The tickets are selling fast so you should get them soon. They are available for all shows at www.itickets.com Most shows will also have them at the door, but they will be a bit more expensive.

I want to let you know about 3 things that we are planning for the tour that we would like you to participate in.

1. We are going to hook up with Rohi ministries in Kenya, Africa to build a home for street kids. We will be asking each person at the shows to consider donating $1 to the "Five Iron Frenzy rescue center" that we are going to build there after the tour. The goal is to house 100 kids that currently live on the street and eat from the trash. We are really excited to be able to help the kids and want you to participate with us. It is awesome to think how much we can help if everyone will give a dollar...

2. We are going to be recording the final show in Denver on 11/22/03. The cd is going to be called "The End Is Here". We will be taking photos from the stage each night of the tour to include in the artwork, so bring a big smile. We will have more info on how you can get a copy of the final show in later emails.

3. I wanted to give the band something special to remember their career, so I came up with the idea of a fan-based scrapbook. I would like to invite each of you to participate by either writing a letter, drawing a picture, maybe a poem??? anything you would want to give to the band as a thank you. The only rule is that it must be on a standard size piece of paper so that it will fit into a 3 ring binder. Please bring your letters to the merch table at the shows and put them in the binder that will be there. This will be a great way to say thank you to a really amazing group of people and one that they can keep forever.

In closing I want to again thank you for all your support over these last 8 years and encourage you to come out and see the band one last time. They will be hanging out both before and after the shows so they can say good-bye to everyone...This really is their last tour, so please don't miss it.

For tickets, directions, times and cities go to www.itickets.com and click on the winners never quit icon on the left hand side.

God bless,

Frank Tate

Hey all, I'm back from my honeymoon! Just dropping in to let you know that last week the new fiveironfrenzy.com went up, with a rad new layout and -- gasp! -- the return of actual content!

Also, I havent checked my [email protected] email address in FOREVER, so if you've emailed me and havent heard back, that's probably why. And, in case you havent already noticed, most of this site's content hasnt been updated in about two years. I've been meaning to rehaul the site also FOREVER, but I've been busy. Hey, at least I'm good about updates... ;)

Thanks for dropping in! God bless!

Oi, oi, oi. I wish I had more time I could spend on this site. But between my work, my wedding, and my videogames, I just dont have the time to do what I want with it!! Anyway, I may or may not ever get around to making this site what it has the potential to be... BUT...

I do have all of the lyrics up for the brand spankin' new Five Iron Frenzy album, The End Is Near, complete with an album review! I finally got the cd in the mail today, and I've spent all afternoon getting this up for you guys, so go spend hours and hours deliberating over every little word of the lyrics and review so I know my hard work paid off ;) Just kidding. Anyway, it's on my server, so check it: fivestarsellout.com/fif

New from the FIF mailing list:

---

Dear Friends of Five Iron Frenzy

I have two exciting events to tell you about that will be happening tomorrow.

1) TICKETS FOR THE FINAL SHOW GO ON SALE SAT 10:00AM

The final FIF show will be in Denver, CO on Sat 11.22.03 at the Fillmore Auditorium. Tickets will be available starting at 10:00am tomorrow (06-21-03) at www.ticketmaster.com.

2) "THE END IS NEAR", OUR FINAL ALBUM, IS DONE AND WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ORDER ONLINE.

Our original plan was to have the final album only availble at the summer festivals and the fall tour, but because so many of you wanted to get it early, we are making it available to order on line starting tomorrow (06-21-03). We have partnered with our friends at themobilemessage.org to have the cd available for you to purchase, and we are also including a free tour poster with each order.

So, to get a copy of our final CD, entitled "The End Is Near," you can come see us at any show from now until Nov 22 and buy it from us, or you can visit the following web site and order it online:

www.themobilemessage.org

Please forward this info to anyone you think would be interested. if you would like to see the current tour schedule you can go to www.itickets.com and click on the "Winners Never Quit" icon on the left hand side of the page.

In closing I would like to ask one more favor. We spent a ton of time and money making the final album our best one yet. We know that downloading or burning copies is really easy to do now, but it isn't right and it really hurts us financially. Please know that we love our fans and appreciate you more than you know, but would like to ask you not to copy our albums or upload it.

Thanks for all your support
Frank

06.18.03

Well, congratulations! This has officially become The Land that Kristel Forgot! Well, I havent really forgotten you guys, I've just gotten so busy that I've put off updating. And really, that's going to be the trend for the next month or so. I'm getting married a month from from tomorrow, and I just moved into a new apartment (and got my phone connection hooked up today, finally). Anyway, here's at least a few things you ought to know about that may or may not be on Five Iron Frenzy's site (where you should definitely go for concert info and that sort of thing):

- The FIF dvd has been completed, BUT for various reasons it will NOT be released. Sorry, guys... maybe down the road, if Kris and Mike can get the funding and get the legality of the whole matter completely straightened out, we'll see something.

- The latest and last Five Iron Frenzy release is titled The End is Near. You can get it on eBay for a million bucks if you want, or you can just wait till FIF comes to your town and buy it for yourself there. Or, if you're lazy you can just wait for it to hit stores next year.

- Last I heard, FIF was touring with Bleach and Pax217. Or something. I really forget. Which isnt all that bad. If you're wanting to check Bleach out, I recommend Space (for nice and fuzzy rock from the 90s) and Bleach (for some really gorgeous slower songs). I didnt really care all that much for Static, and I've only heard 2 songs from their newest album. As for Pax217 or whoever else FIF is playing with, I havent heard all that much by them, but from what I have heard I have no interest whatsoever in investing my hard-earned cash in their albums. But, then again, I listen to Danielson, so you cant really trust my taste in music.

- The FIF website really SUCKS right now. Unless you're looking for tour dates. Or a really, really big link to the FIF message board.

- Oh, and Reese is starting a band with I think Sonnie and some other famous dudes. Dont worry, it'll suck just as badly as FIF :D

Sorry to not be much help to you all!

If you need more info than this, keep checking in at my website, www.fivestarsellout.com. At the very least, you can find out if I've completely dropped off the face of the planet or not :D

God bless!
-Kristel

04.22.03

Well, the rumors are true! The Cheeses of Nazareth album cover has been edited to Cheeses..., though the cd does have the full title on it. I think there may actually be 2 versions out, but I havent seen the unedited version in an actual store, and I went to Mardel, Family Christian, Best Buy, Borders, and Walmart. Best Buy didnt have the cd at all in stock, but on the website it has the unedited *pictured*... If anybody has the original album cover, let me know. Thanks!

I'll update tonight with the last 2 FIF mailing list updates, at least. I want to get the liner notes typed up for you guys, but I probably wont have time. The cd is pretty good! Stupid, but good. The first 10 or so tracks are all pretty familiar, so I skipped through a few of them for the sake of time. All you fans of the rarer mp3s will LOVE this album, because they're all on there. And I love this album, because you can all stop asking me for mp3s!!! w00t!! ^__^

Love, Kristel is Stupid

04.21.03

Just a reminder that the new FIF album Cheeses of Nazareth comes out tomorrow! You can read the JFH review HERE. There's also a complete (?) track list at that site. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

Hope your Easter was great! Ta!

Don't forget, guys -- the new Five Iron Frenzy album, Cheeses of Nazareth is in stores next Tuesday, April 22! This album is especially for all you kids who love the rare funny tracks (like "Rhubarb Pie"), the stupid songs that havent been released (like "Dogfood"), and all the rad hard-to-find b-sides (like "Kamikaze" and "Marty").

And, in other news, yes, the lyrics are all there for The Light of Things Hoped For. I also updated "The Sun Also Rises" and "Binary", which were previously the unofficial versions. If I have time, I'll type out the "press release" tracks, "Mercury" and "Gemini". "Irides of M" is that nifty unnamed track at the end of the album.

If you're looking for my brave Saint Saturn album review, you can read it at www.fivestarsellout.com. That's about it.

God bless!

I WILL finish with the lyrics. But first, I had to write a review for the new brave Saint Saturn album. What? My blog is number 4 on google if you search for a review of the album, and I've already gotten 2 hits from people looking for one, BEFORE I wrote it, so, bleh.

If you feel like reading a review of the album, check mine out: exoth.diaryland.com. I'll be adding it to www.fivestarsellout.com momentarily. Also, there's a review up at jesusfreakhideout.com.

Really, I will get these lyrics done for you guys. With commentary, no doubt!
:D

03.25.03

Alright, here's what I have up so far for the lyrics. I'll try to finish this tonight for you guys after work. I'll finish the links for the rest of the tracks as I get them up.

01. Prologue
02. The Sun Also Rises
03. Binary
04. Mercury
05. Enamel
06. Anastasia
07. Titan
08. Gemini
09. Estrella
10. Heart Still Beats
11. Babies Breath
12. I Fell Away
13. Recall
14. Atropos
15. Daylight
16. Irides of M (instrumental)

Daylight and Heart Still Beats are my current favorites. Estrella is also incredibly gorgeous. Mmm.

The big news among fans right now is the apparent censoring done in both Enamel and Heart Still Beats (muting of the words "hell" and "pissed" on the cd and editing of the liner notes). The censoring was done for the album's release on Tooth & Nail, and uncensored versions of these songs *will* be available for download at bravesaintsaturn.com soon. You have to hear the songs to get the context. As Dennis put it (in an email to message boarder kurtfidelity) after profusely apologizing for the language in Heart Still Beats, "I dont feel like I could have gotten the point accross with the King's english, if you know what I mean."

And, it turns out that the comic in the liner notes was done by none other than Barak -- you may know him as Big Barak from the message board or as Barak from Isaac, the improv group that toured with FIF a while back. Good times :D

See you space cowboy,
Kristel

brave Saint Saturn's The Light of Things Hoped For is in stores NOW!

Hey, all! I had to drive all around town and it cost me an arm and a leg, but I am now in the possession of the new bS2 album!! Our Family Christian surprisingly didnt carry it, so I had to drive to Mardel, but it's all good now. I'll have lyrics up asap for you guys, hopefully pretty soon.

The liner notes are AWESOME, complete with a comic following the Gloria's crew. The story bears eerie resemblance to Qristy's the place without a name. If you havent read it yet, check it out, I pushed her into doing it a year or so ago. ^_^

I've also got some images from the DVD to show you guys, I'll try to upload those today. Oh, and be sure to check out the new look at the FIF/bS2 Message Board!

And if you thought Binary couldnt get any better, oh, are you in for a surprise...

Godspeed,
Kristel

Here's the latest from the FIF mailing list:

*****

Hello friends,

This is Keith with Five Iron Frenzy. I am writing you to let you know about our new album called "Cheeses of Nazareth." It will be in stores on April 22.

Most of you probably already know this, but this album is a collection of B-sides and demos, plus some new joke songs. The reason we are putting it out is for you, the FIF fans. If you never got a copy of "Kamikaze" on the Electric Youth tour, this is the album to get. If you have a downloaded version of "Burn," and want to hear it re-mastered, this is the album for you. What about "Marty," or "Rhubarb Pie?" It's all here. What about the songs that appeared on our first 7" record which there are only 500 copies of? Yep, those are here too. What about songs like "Mind For Treason" which we wrote in 1995, played it live often, but never recorded until now. It's on "Cheeses." Plus if you like songs like "Kitty-doggie" or "Shut Up" or "These Are Not My Pants," you will want to pick this up because it's got tons of stuff like that. "Dog Food," "Mayonnaise Taco Monday," "How's About Some Milk," and "Stinky Hippy," just to name a few. In total there are 33(!!!) tracks on this CD. So if you want to hear everything from our humble beginnings to our current dementia, this is the CD for you.

Now, April 22 is still several months away, so you are probably wondering why I am writing you now. The answer is: WE NEED YOUR HELP.

You can help us on April 22, by buying the album, but we can also use your help NOW. If you are willing to help us out now, keep reading.

As most of you know we need you to help promote our new albums and tours. We don't have a huge budget, no large corporation funds us, the reason we do as well as we do is because of you. (Thanks, by the way.)

So here's the deal. We have made "Cheeses of Nazareth" stickers, and we would like to give them to you for free to help us. Stick them on your car, your notebook, your backpack, your cat (OK, don't put one on your cat, I was just kidding), your Spam, your toilet brush handle, on any of your stuff which your friends, or other people, might see. This way everyone who sees your stuff will be reminded about our new CD, and when it comes out. (Please only put stickers on YOUR property, or property you have permission to put stickers on, thanks.)

If you would like to obtain some of these fine sheets of self-adhesive vinyl, all you have to do is send a self addressed stamped envelope to:

5 Minute Walk
2419 Cherry Hills Dr
Lafayette, CA 94549

You will get as many stickers as your 37 cent stamp will pay to mail to you.

REMEMBER: you must send a self addressed stamped envelope to get stickers.

OK, here's the other thing we could use your help with. Many of you remember Operation Cookie. That helped us a lot, and we would like to do something similar to it again. Basically the way this works is we ask you to help us by getting your local store excited about our new CD. What we would like to ask you to do is to take a some crackers to the store you are going to buy “Cheeses of Nazareth” at. Write a little note that says something like:

"Dear employees of Billy Bob's Awesome CDs and X-treme Vacuum Cleaners,

These crackers are a gift for you. They are my way of saying thanks for carrying music from Five Iron Frenzy in your store. You could eat them now if you wanted, but they would be better with cheese. If you would like some cheese with your crackers, I suggest you wait until April 22 when FIF releases their new CD entitled "Cheeses of Nazareth." I'll be here on April 22 to purchase this fine quality compact disc recording. Thank you for making it available for me.

Your loyal customer,

Pete Jo Bob Billy Bob Sanchez Johnson III."

You get the idea. Obviously you could put it in your own words, and you should probably change the names. Unless of course you do shop at a place called "Billy Bob's Awesome CDs and X-treme Vacuum Cleaners" or your name really is "Pete Jo Bob Billy Bob Sanchez Johnson III." If that's the case, I've already done all the work for you. Just hit print.

Ok, in all seriousness, if you choose to do either of these you will be helping us out a ton. But we need you to do them now, so if you are interested don't dilly daly.

Ok. Thanks to all of you for your help and support. Like I said, you help us out far more than you realize, and we thank you very much for it.

Thanks for reading.

-Keith Frenzy

Huzzah! I heart "Dogfood" ^__^

Alright, kiddies, time to hop on the bandwagon! Promote Five Iron Frenzy in your town and among your friends! All the cool kids are doing it!! :D

All those songs you've only been able to find on mp3 are going to be on it... This is going to be one cool album.

03.06.03

I'm not at home right now, so I dont have the exact info, but Kris has informed me that work on the FIF DVD is coming along quite nicely. If you havent heard already, Five Iron Frenzy will be releasing a DVD this summer. The first batch will be available at Cornerstone, and everyone else will hopefully be able to get their hands on it sometime after that, much like the release of their final album. I know Kris has been talking about working on this for about a year or so now, so you can be assured a lot of work is going into this. Stuff should be wrapping up in March and April. :D Kris will also be working with Masaki on the final album... good times!

If for some bizarre reason you're trying to keep tabs on me, my homesite www.fivestarsellout.com is up and running.

And dont forget, brave Saint Saturn's The Light of Things Hoped For comes out on March 25th! Cheeses of Nazareth isnt too far away, either ^_^

God bless, all
-Kristel

Just when you thought FIF couldn't get any cheesier, my goodness...

5 Minute Walk is back up and running with the upcoming release of FIF's funny/b-side album, Cheeses of Nazareth. The release date is currently April 22, and 5 Minute Walk's site has an entire webpage devoted to extremely cheesy promotion of the album. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Happy New Year, all. For everyone who's wondering why FIF's main page has been down, check out Keith's post on the Frenzyboard (which is also currently down for 99% of boarders -- but not me!! lol):

Hello boardies -

Just a quick note to say that the web site should be back up very soon. There were some very lame problems that happened (yes, someone else owned our domain name for a little while), but I *think* it's all taken care of and the site *should* be back up very soon.

Just F.Y.I.

-Keith

As for me, apologies to all for not getting around to working on the new site yet. I'm going to stop promising you guys a date, and just get around to it when I get around to it. I am getting closer and closer, though. I'm only about 2 weeks from getting Spitting Hamster done, assuming I can get myself to sit down and work on it a few times a week, and from there my next big online project is the new FIF Fans Unite.

At the moment though, I'm also busy with the main real-life stresses of trying to get registered for school this semester, working, planning my wedding, and getting medicine for whatever I have right now, which appears to be strep throat. W00t w00t, bling bling, and all that stuff :D

Thanks to all who keep checking out the site -- hey, what the site lacks in content at least I make up for in updates! ^_^ God bless, all!

Reese posted the following earlier on the FIF message board. BTW, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was stinkin AWESOME! ^___^

FAQs About Five Iron?s Breakup

Will there still be a Scum of the Earth?
- Of course. Scum of the Earth has only a little to do with Five Iron, and EVERYTHING to do with Jesus. As long as he comes, you should. We?re trying to find a new building right now, but we still meet every Sunday at 6:30 at the corner of Colfax and Ash in lovely Denver Colorado.

Will Five Iron still play my town?
- That really isn?t up to us. We want to, but it all depends on PROMOTERS. Promoters are the people who book the bands. What we need you to do is talk to a promoter in your town about booking us on the ?Winners Never Quit Tour?. The best case scenario is for us to be booked through a college, using their activity board money, so that the ticket prices stay low, and it?s not in a church so that everyone will feel welcome there. If you are interested, contact Frank Tate at: [email protected]

What about Canadian, European, Australian, New Zealand, Alaskan, or Wappinger Falls, Ny area, etc. tours?
- Well, we want to play all of these places so much that cerebral- spinal fluid shoots out of our eyes. But, just like the other places, someone has to book it. Your situation is a little bit worse because we have to pay for airfare. However, we WANT to go there. So try and get a serious promoter to book us. Maybe late August?

What are the members of Five Iron going to do after they break up next December?
- A lot of different things. All of us except for Keith and Jeff will be married by then, so we will do a lot of that ?married? kind of junk. Since I, Reese, am writing this, I?ll let you know what I?ll be doing and then maybe some of the others can add to this later...

Reese- I am getting married to Stacie Kelly, my best friend, on April 5th 2003. We will live in Walnut Creek California for the rest of 2003 ( someone might have to eat some of their words regarding all of the bad things they have said about a particular state), then I think we will move somewhere else, but I don?t know where yet. I will be resigning as a co-pastor at Scum of the Earth in March so that I can do this, but thankfully, Scum has little to do with me, and much to do with Jesus. Sonnie and I will probably start a new band, but we don?t know what it will be called yet, or how horrible our music will be. I still owe Tooth and Nail another Brave Saint album, so hopefully that will come out in 2004 or 2005. There is also the possibility of Sonnie and i starting a record label, but that is a lot of hard work, and we are scared of it. No matter what we do, I will have to get a ?real? job for a while, and that will probably be High School Biology or Physics teacher. Oh yeah, I think my poetry book will come out next summer too.

What will happen to Brave Saint Saturn?
- The crew of the USS Gloria has been lost for a few years now. Hopefully they will be found on March 25, 2003, by mission control at Tooth and Nail records. But then they must return to earth as well, and that will take at least one more allbum.

What will the final show be like?
- It will be the best Five Iron Show of all time. We will have a more ?no-holds-barred? show than the movie ?No Holds Barred??, starring Hulk Hogan. It will be in Denver, hopefully at the Fillmore or someplace huge, and you will be glad you came if you have to travel from a long way away, because you can go snowboarding the next day. We are trying to make it either free, or really cheap and then donate the money to charity. It will be a good time to say ?goodbye?, or to say ?hello?. if you happen to be our new manager at the Starbucks? we will be working at after the band is over.

What will the last two albums be like?
Well the joke album, Cheeses of Nazareth?, will be a virtual smorgasboard of lameness?. All the songs that weren?t good enough to make it on the other albums will be there, PLUS a bunch of stuff that we made up in Keiths bedroom? on an eight track recorder. It really will be stupid, but kind of funny, and cheap to buy. Then, our last studio album will come out later this summer... It will be more along the lines of FIF2EB, musically, and hopefully the best album we will ever make, (that?s our goal anyway.)

Why does everyone think I?m a nerd at school?
- Umm... because you are. Just embrace it. By the time you graduate from college, everyone that used to be cool will be bagging your groceries at the grocery store, and you will be able to yell at them for not double bagging your eight cans of easy cheese?, and then fly off in your Leer? Jet.

Why do I feel ?evil? when I download Five Iron and Brave Saint Saturn songs on the internet?
- Well, because, unless you bought the albums, that is still stealing. None of us care if you do it and aren?t Christian (because we do this as a ministry), but for the Christians: Hello? Quit stealing. I know you think that all music should be free, but have you ever hear ?free? music? It sucks. Someone has to pay to produce those songs and make them sound good, and to make the musicians be able to eat food and buy pants, and that person is you?. When you pay for the rock?, it makes the rock sound better?.

What about the DVD?
- It?s coming soon. And, yeah baby, it will be cool. Probably it will be released with the ?Winners Never Quit? tour, or afterwards via the internet.

Was Eulogy about Five Iron Breaking up?
- NOPE. It is only about the 85th song that I have written to try and get people to stop IDOLIZING our band. Sigh...

Can you tell me why is Five Iron breaking up, again? Because I forgot.
- Because we need to. We are all really good friends still, but we just feel like our lives, and our calling to the Lord are pulling us in different directions than Five Iron. It?s okay, we just need to be obedient to the Lord.

Didn?t they break up, then get back together, and then break up again about 32 times?
- Maybe you need to stop using the internet? as your only source for information. No, we never broke up, thus, we never got back together. This will be the first and only ?break-up? we will ever have. I?m sorry if it makes you sad, we still will like you a lot though.

Why does Reese think the ??? symbol is so funny?
- Because he is ?Special!??.

Godspeed,
ROPER
