More Photos of Things I Make!
New dresses for the spring! I made the blue dress on the left and the brown in the middle.

The blue dress has a gathered bodice both in front and in back. The little pleat at the top of the sleeve has a button at either side. The fabric is a very light striped cotton.

The brown dress has ruched ribbon at the sleeve cuff, and is piped along the bottom edge - it has a point at the middle back.

Another new dress for Knight's Ferry!

The sleeves are bishop sleeves, gathered into a cuff. It is pleated at the shoulder, and I sewed down the pleats for about 2 inches so it would lay flat. I laid braid across the pleats and put a button at either side.
Here, in fall of 2003, is Susie's skirt and garibaldi blouse outfit.

It has braid trim down the front and at the shoulders. I stitched all the buttonholes by hand!

The green dress Mom is wearing is just a nice basic dress.
This is Mom's favourite dress to wear to Scottish Games, here at Dixon in September, 2003.

A plain cotton homespun dress with flipped back cuffs.
I made this dress from fabric Susie picked out in June, 2004. It is seen here at Casa de Fruta in the same month.

She knew the fabric wasn't quite authentic to the 1860 period, so gave me carte blanche for the design. I decided to go all out and use totally authentic BROWN trim -
yay!

I appliqued the trim at the shoulders and found dark brass coloured buttons for accent. We both think it turned out great!
Michael's new waistcoat, made from the same pattern as Dad's white formal waistcoat. Covered buttons and a dark brown polished cotton backing - I understand he even wears this to the office!

Me and my friend Sarah at the November Ball, 2002.

I made a party dress for this occassion. The skirt is a magenta/royal blue stripe, something I found in the decorator fabric sale bin. It turned out to be a little bit too heavy than I wanted, but it looks cool.

The sash has a bow at the back and 2 streamer-tail thingys. I made it of poly satin, no better alternative in sight. No pattern used here, all eye-balling.

The bodice is just a regular dress bodice with short puffed sleeves. I used eyelet lace and blue ribbon for the trim.

I also had walking pneumonia at that moment, but I was blissfully ignorant, and you can't tell anyway ;-)
My fun purple dress I made in fall, 2002, and am wearing here at Roaring Camp, May, 2003. My friend Mara made her dress ;-)

The purple has a vertical stripe, and I thought the yellow bias tape would be a stunning accent. It was designed by my brother, and the yellow goes around the back of the dress to make it look like a "jacket".

There are a few gold buttons on the sleeves, inside a loop of yellow on the outside seam.
A dress that Mom made and I later modified. The print in this fabric is fabulous - blue and white, with an oriental flair. There is blue braid at the stand up collar as well as on the sleeves, and in a v at the front.

My favourite brown dress, here finally with the bodice lined, but not with the fuller skirt yet...

I made this dress for Mom in March, 2003. It has grosgrain ribbon trim, and is very light and comfortable.
