| As we all know it's hard enough to play against 11 players who desperatly want to beat you but, as Falkirk found out, when you have to play against 11 players who desperatly want to beat you as well referee Dougie McDonald life goes from difficult to impossible. Falkirk looked sluggish in the first half nad Ayr pilled pressure on from the owrd go. It was Falkirk though who took the lead after a brilliant move from Andy Lawrie. He passed in from the right to Kevin McAllister who crossed for John Henry who bulleted a header passed Craig Nelson. Ayr United did have a few chances to equalise but Myles Hogarth pulled off two great saves, the first from a Gary Teale cross and the second from a David Craig free kick. Half Time: Falkirk 1-0 Ayr Just after the restart Falkirk were stung badly when referee Dougie McDonlad awarded Ayr a penalty for nothing. James Grady stepped up and placed the ball passed Myles Hogarth who dived the right way. Fair enough referees have a difficult job to do and nobody would grudge him one mistake but only minutes later he awarded Ayr a second penalty. This time Eddie Annand stepped up and blasted the ball to the left of Myles Hogarth. Only seconds after the kick off was taken Falkirk were awarded a corner and as the ball floated over the box the referee stood and watched Andy Lawrie being dragged to the ground, but instead of doing the sensible thing and award the penanty the guy that's been fouled he gave it the other way. Lee Mair showed signs of quality for the short time he was on but Kenny Deuchar did absoloutly nothing. |
