York City came out in the first half and from the word go looked like they were out to demolish Falkirk's defence. There only real chance of the first half came after 15 minutes when a goal mouth scramble resulted in the ball being blasted towards goal, luckily Steve Watson was ready on the line to clear it away. Falkirk took the lead after 33 minutes when the referee awarded a penalty to Falkirk for hand ball in the box. Paul Wright stepped up and hammered the ball down the centre. York City didn't lie down unfortunatly and they got back on level terms just before the break when Graham Potter curled in a twenty yard free kick into the top right hand corner. Half Time: Falkirk 1-1 York City Alex Totten brought on youngster (ha ha) Kevin McAllister at half time which at least gave the midfield a bit of spark. Falkirk took the lead for a second time midway through the second half when Andy Lawrie crossed for Steve Watson, he flicked it on to Paul Wright who executed a perfect diving header into the top corner. Mark Kerr later came close with a series of shots but it was York who grabbed a goal with only five minutes left on the clock when Lee Bullock was allowed to run through on goal, he somehow lifted the ball over the head of Hogarth and rest , as they say, is history. |
