Falkirk 1-0 Raith Rovers |
The Bairns fans were enganged in a triple celebration today. Firstly the fact that we beat rivals Raith Rovers, secondly because Camille Oponga played and thirdly because Paul Wright didn't. Falkirk dominated the opening period but chances were few and far between for both teams. Falkirk could have taken the lead after 10 minutes when McAllister combined well with Morris on the edge of the box, he layed out wide to Waddell who could have made a real chance for himself but a terrible first touch let him down. Lee Miller also had a chance after 22 minutes when he was sent through on goal but as Sammy Monin came out to meet him he fired a shot well over the cross bar. The first goal proved to be the only goal of this match and it came from Lee Miller. Ricky Waddell played a perfect ball to the feet of Ian Morris, the big midfielder come striker sliced the ball off to the side where it was met my Lee Miller who fired into the bottom corner from 16 yards. Raith could have equalised just a few minutes later when Scott Crabbe's overhead effort came back off the face of the bar. Mark Kerr also came close from 25 yards just before the break. Half Time: Falkirk 1-0 Raith Rovers Falkirk fell out of the game in the second half and were lucky not to concede a goal. Falkirk never really found a way to neutralise the threat of Nacho Novo. Jamie McQuilken was beaten to every single 50-50 ball by the Spaniard. The only real chance of the second half fell to Novo but his chip over Myles Hogarth went just over the bar.
