Falkirk 3-2 St Mirren
18/8/01
1.  Myles Hogarth - 7 - Didn't really stand a chance with the goals but saved from point blank range with his feet
2.  Lee Mair - 7 - Didn't really do all that much defending but got up and down the right hand side very well
3.  Jamie McQuilken - 8 - Scored an own goal but then made up for it with a superb goal at the other end
4.  Steven Rennie - 7 - Was quiet at the back but played well enough when he had to
5.  Andy Lawrie - 6 - Had a few misplaced passes in the first half and was to quiet in the second
6.  Steve Watson - 6 - Played right in the centre of the midfield but was far to quiet.  Was absoloutly knackered at the end
7.  Kevin McAllister - 10 - Never put a foot wrong, played superbly down the right and set up countless chances for Paul Wright
8.  Mark Kerr - 7 - Despite scoring the late winner he never really came onto his game although his passing was perfect throughout
9.  Paul Wright - 8 - Played with his back to goal a lot of the time and played a lot of square passes, rarely gave it away but missed countless chances
10.  Kevin Christie - 9 - Had a shocking start but made up for it with some outstanding passes and the equalising goal after 80 minutes
11.  John Henry - 7 -  Another player who sat quietly in the midfield, despite this his vision and passing accuracy was vital to the Falkirk attack

12.  Ian Morris - 5 - Didn't play for long enough to make an impact
14.  Ricky Waddell - 5 - Didn't play for long enough to make an impact
15.  Steven Craig - 5 - Chased a lot of passes but to no end
Falkirk started the match poorly and St Mirren had the lions share of the posesion, but did look dangerous on the attack, Kevin McAllister in particular.  Falkirk had the first real chance of the match, Steve Watson and Kevin McAllister combined well on the left.  Crunchie squared it for Paul Wright, his goal-bound shot was deflected to Mark Kerr, whos goal-bound shot was deflected out for a corner.  Falkirk had 4 corner kicks in the opening half hour but made no breakthrough.  St Mirren took advantage of some bad defeding to grab the lead.  The high ball came over from the right and Jamie McQuilken headed past his own keeper.  Paul Wright came close to being sent off just before the break when he got involved ina fight with a St Mirren guy.  Wright was luck to get away with a booking but only seconds later he elbowed the same guy in the face, luckily it went un-notiec by referee John Robotham.  Kevin Christie also got booked in the opening 45 minutes but surprisingly this time it wasn't his fault.
Half Time : Falkirk 0-1 St Mirren
Neither team made made any changes at the break but Falkirk came out with a whole new attitude, Jamie McQuilken in particular eager to make up for his previous error.  Falkirk got a goal on the hour mark and it was that man Jamie McQuilken who scored it, he got the break of the ball on the edge of the box and blasted a twenty yard half volley right into the bottom corner.  Just as the cheers were dying St Mirren took the lead again.  The Buddies took the kick off and ran straight up the park and then were fouled.  Fat Boy Barry Lavety curled in the resulting free kick from 25 yards.  Paul Wright could have fired Falkirk level when he was through on goal but his right foot effort bobbled across goal and wide.  With 80 minutes on the clock Falkirk got the equaliser when Kevin Christie headed home a Kevin McAllister corner.  In the dying seconds of the match just as both sets of fans were resigned to the fact that a draw was on the cards Falkirk grabbed as last gasp winner.  The found its way out wide on the right to Mark Kerr who took it in and fired an un-stoppable shot past goalkeeper Ludovic Roy.
