Falkirk started off with debutants Steve Watson and Lee Miller.  Paul Wright spent the first half on the bench with Devon Mitchell ,Colin Samuel and Jamie Clark (all awaiting internertional clearance) watching from the stand.

Despite an even start it was Falkirk who scored first when Andy Lawrie latched onto a John Henry cross with his right foot, brought it onto his left foot and fired passed Gary McGlynn in the Montrose goal.  Kevin McAllister also came close in the first half before Steve Watson fired just wide from 25 yards with his left foot.

In the second half Falkirk introduced Gary McStay and Paul Wright and took advantage of some cheesey defending when Steve Watson waltzed through the defence and hit his shot back off the junction.  With the keeper beaten Watson flicked the ball onto his right foot and hammered the ball passed the defender on the line.

Motrose battled away but the passing in the airns midfield was proving to much, Falkirk wrapped it all up with ten minutes to go when Mark Kerr rounded 'keeper McGlynn to tap in his first since
16 September 2000 vs Alloa.

New boy Paul Wright had a great chance in the last ten seconds to make his mark on the game but his right foot effort crashed off the underside of the bar.
