RMH 612Y - A previous owners tale. |
On June 2nd 2005 I was surprised by an email from the previous owner of RHM 612Y. Grahame Whitfield is the man who turned the car from its original 1100L spec' to a car with the mechanical detailing of a Fiesta XR2 mk2. |

The above picture (courtesy of Grahame) shows him driving the car round the Le Mans 24 race circuit. This was while the car was still using the 1100 engine and mechanicals. During the visit the car suffered a minor breakdown which was traced to a broken ignition lead which was fixed , in Grahame's words by "some very enthusiastic mechanics at a local Ford garage". |

Once the Le Mans trip was over Grahame embarked on the XR2 transplant. Most of the mechanical parts used came from a doner XR2 mk2 which cost the grand sum of 180. The bodywork was then resprayed by a very good friend of Grahame. In his words Grahame reckons the 4000 restoration costs already mentioned on here concerning RMH 612Y are "a little bit out" |

Sadly the car eventually had to be sold on as Grahame lost the use of the garage the car was kept in. He sold the car at the price he did so that someone else could make use of and enjoy the car. He's glad to hear that RMH is still around and is now looking for another Fiesta project, preferably a Supersport. But then he'd have to sell his very clean 1982 Escort XR3i. |

There's one more rather spooky twist to the email Grahame sent me.He also sent me a picture of another car he owned for a time. This one........ |

.......I also owned A367 HVF, for the best part of 1999. The X(R) - Files has nothing on us!!!! Thanks again Grahame and good luck Supersport hunting. |
