A899 BUF is an XR2 Fly, built by F.English. It's also the only Fly I have had the pleasure to have travelled in. I visited the car's owner, Jonathan, who lives in North west England during October 2004. He took me out in the silver car to visit his other Fly, a sunburst red 1.3 GL registered XDB 500X,which he intends to restore. |

Jonathan bought this car a few years back and the car had still only covered 50K in October 04. This car has been fitted with a rollover bar which isn't a normal fitment on the Fly. The impression from the passenger seat was of a very nippy car with an amount of scuttle shake (body twisting) on par with the Escort XR3i cabriolet,which is minimal.It was certainly a pleasant journey on a crisp Autumn morning. |

There are one or two minor bodywork blemishes afflicting the car which the owner is having fixed during the winter 04/05. The only real problem is the hood which unfortuanately is in a poor condition.Any attempt to drive with it up would see it ripped off very quickly.Jonathan has been quoted over �600 for a new one, so it's on hold at the moment (10/04) and only gets used after careful scrutiny of the weather forecast!!! |
