The Pentagram is constantly connected to satanism by movie industries and "christians". With the top point upright, the Pentagram offers protection and serves as a reminder of faith. The Pentagram is also called the endless knot and the Star of Solomon. It is sometimes confused for the Star of David which is a six pointed star.

An inverted Pentagram does NOT necessarily mean evil. It may be a sign of a "higher" initiation. Again, don't be judgemental, the person wearing the inverted Pentagram may know something you don't.
The lower four points of the star represent, air, earth, water and fire. The top point respresents spirit.

Spirit, being the top point shows the rule of the spirit over the other elements. The spirit element is called Akasha and means centering transformation.

Air rules the east point and represents communication, knowledge, concentration, intellect, competence, necromancing, telepathy, memory, wisdom, the raven, the eagle, the hawk, prophecy, movement, speed and karma.
Fire rules the south point and represents energy, purification, courage, creativity, success, refinement, arts, transformation, the phoenix, the lion, the dragon, loyalty and force. Water rules the west point and represents intuition, emotions, inner self, flowing movement, cleansing, reflection, sympathy, love, currents and tides, the swan, the crab, the dolphin and dreams. Earth rules the north and represents mystery, growth, fertility, material abundance, birth, healing, business, industry, possessions, the bear, the wolf, the stag, conservation and nature.
When the Pentagram is shown in a circle, it represents our connection with the universe and is called a Pentacle.
