“Hurry up crew!” Sinbad
called to his friends to catch up Maeve rolled her eyes and quickened her
stride Kirah was exaggerating and pretending to die of heat exhaustion by
clutching her throat Doubar laughed
“Come on lass we can’t
keep or captain waiting” he put his hand on the girls shoulder and she
obediently hastened her pace to catch up to her captain. Rongar and Firouz were
slightly ahead of Sinbad Firouz noticed the serious and somewhat concerned look
on his friends face.
“Is everything alright rongar?” asked Firouz the moor nodded in reply but Firouz
knew that there was something wrong.
“Come on Rongar I know
there is something wrong… please tells me maybe I can help” Firouz suggested
but the moor just shook his head.
“Sinbad for the sake of
our sanity please slow down!” complained Maeve giving her captain a slightly
sarcastic desperate look he laughed at the redhead.
“Your not going to take
no for an answer now are you my sorceress?” he said eyeing Maeve with a knowing
smile.
“Need I answer that?” she
replied she looked down at the ground she always seemed to get embarrassed when
he called her “my sorceress”
“Very well a quick rest”
he stooped under a tree and sat down on the grass.
“Oh so you listen to
her…I’ve been asking for a rest for ages” Doubar panted, he slumped down next
his brother. Kirah laughed and shook the hair out of her face she looked around
and saw Rongar heading off to a nearby lake she turned to Firouz who was
talking to Sinbad.
“Firouz is there
something wrong with Rongar?” Firouz looked up
“He does seem unhappy
doesn’t he” sighed Firouz
“I’ll go talk to him see
if I can find out what’s going on” said Maeve getting to her feet she quickly
caught up with Rongar who was sitting on a smooth rock with his head in his
hands he looked up when he heard Maeve approaching and though he tried to
conceal it Maeve quickly saw he had been crying.
“Rongar my friend what’s wrong?”
she sat down next to him Rongar shook his head but Maeve was not about to give
up
“Come on Rongar Sinbad
once told me that when something goes wrong you need to trust in yourself and
your friends to get you through the problem so spill”Rongar
looked down at the water and then to his friend and pointed to a nearby village
then at his mouth Maeve understood.
“This is where you got
your tongue cut out isn’t it?” she asked Rongar nodded slowly then he glared at
the village and Maeve instantly understood.
“Revenge?” she said rongar nodded again Maeve sighed
“I know what it feels
like to want revenge” she said Rongar shrugged
“how?”
said Maeve “you don’t want to know” she looked away trying hard not to cry but
Rongar persisted
“I’ll tell you in my own
time” she said to the moor gently Rongar nodded and left him alone with his
thoughts.
“Well what’s wrong with
him?” said Kirah biting her lip. Maeve pulled the hair out of her face
“This is where Rongar had
his tongue cut out…and now he wants revenge” she said looking at Sinbad for a
plan.
“Ok well let’s get going
with the plan” he said Maeve raised her eyebrows surprised
“We have a plan captain?”
said Kirah
“Of course” he replied
smiling
“What is the plan” Kirah
asked
“Find the bad guy, beat
him, avenge rongar and sail off?” said Doubar
sarcastically
“That will work” Sinbad
replied shrugging
“Another one of your
brilliant but not very detailed plans little brother…they always seem to work”
Sinbad laughed and called Rongar
“Let’s go crew!” he
gestured for the others to follow and lead the way into the village.
They had a quick glance
around the village it seemed quite normal people passing by to go to the market
place, mothers ushering children inside for dinner, the sun was beginning to
set below the horizon the crew made camp for the night.
“I’ll take first watch”
said Maeve the others nodded and after awhile they all fell asleep while Maeve
watched the flames flicker and slowly die she was just about to rouse Sinbad
for his watch when Kirah began to stir.
Meanwhile a man watched
from the shadows he crept back to where his conjuring bowl was he looked at the
mixture inside and whipered a few well chosen words
he crept back to where Maeve was looking at Kirah who had began to cough.
“Kirah are you O.K?”
Maeve asked rousing the sleeping figure Kirah opened her eyes and looked at
Maeve.
“I don’t feel so well”
Kirah whispered holding her hand to her throat Maeve held her hand to her sister’s
forehead.
“My god you’re burning up
Firouz. Firouz quickly wake up!” Maeve exclaimed shaking Firouz he sat up and
looked around bleary eyed
“What is it?” he asked
focusing his eyes
“It’s Kirah she’s sick”
Maeve replied Firouz came over and looked at the girl.
“I have never seen this
before” said Firouz a rash was now spreading from Kirahs neck down her chest
Sinbad suddenly appeared behind them.
“What’s wrong guy’s?” he
asked he saw Kirah her face beaded with sweat
“Whoa what’s wrong with
her?” he said
“I have never seen this
sickness before” admitted firouz Maeve looked closely at Kirah
“It’s magic” she said
confidently Firouz rolled his eyes
“What’s new?” Firouz said
sarcastically now dabbing at Kirahs neck with a damp cloth Maeve glared at him
and just as she was about to reply when Rongar crossed in front of them gently
pushing Maeve out of the way he leant down over Kirah
“Rongar?” Kirah said weakly Rongar nodded and put his hand on the
fevered girl he then stood up and walked towards the shadows he seemed to be
searching for something he came back and reached for a piece of parchment and
wrote one word on it he showed it too Sinbad he looked down at the paper and
the one word Rongar had written Tyron the
captain looked back up at Rongar
“What does this mean
Rongar my friend?” he searched the moors eyes for an answer
“Who’s Tyron?” added
Maeve who had read the name over Sinbad’s shoulder.
Rongar pointed to the paper than at himself
and Kirah and Sinbad understood he put his hands on Rongar’s shoulders and
looked him straight in the eyes.
“This man Tyron, he’s
responsible for Kirahs sickness and he’s the one who cut your tongue out isn’t
he?” Rongar nodded sadly.
“We haven’t got time to
lose then” he said he quickly got Doubar to awaken then he told the others.
“Firouz, Maeve you stay
here with Kirah you may be able to find a cure, Doubar and Rongar will come
with me and we’ll find Tyron and see what we are to do with him” Maeve began to
protest wanting to go along with Sinbad but she saw her sister who’s breathing
was becoming laboured and she nodded in agreement.
After a couple of minutes
Sinbad stopped suddenly aware of the fact that they didn’t know what this man
looked like or where he was he turned to Rongar who instantly pointed at a
building half concealed by a wall Sinbad nodded his head and gestured to his
crew to follow him quietly they did so edging around the wall and silently
slipping into the house as soon as they got in they were confronted by Tyron
who stood with his arms crossed in front of him unworried and a smirk on his
face
“Why Rongar no greeting
for your old friend” he said maliciously laughing
Doubar stepped forward
threateningly but Rongar put his hand out to stop the man and stepped forward himself.
“my my
haven’t you grown” said Tyron looking Rongar up and down in a flash of his
hands Rongar had Tyron pinned against a wall.
Back at the
“Come on Kirah please
try” she whispered Kirah looked at her sister
“I just can’t” said Kirah
Maeve gave Kirah a piercing look
“You know even when
things were really bad I believed we would get through it because I though you
were too stubborn to quit!” Maeve said
“You can’t give up Kirah
I need you” Maeve’s eyes filled with tears
“I won’t let you give up”
she whispered and a single tear rolled down her cheek.
Sinbad put his hand on
Rongar and Rongar backed off
“You took my Rongar’s
tongue, you might have killed Kirah you deserve to die” he whispered coldly his
blue eyes hardening Tyron was frightened
“Please don’t” Tyron
begged Sinbad used his sabre to cut Tyron’s cheek just enough to let a line of
blood trickle down
“Give me one good reason
why I shouldn’t rip you apart” growled Doubar from behind his brother Tyron did
not answer except for a pitiful whimper
“say goodbye Tyron” said
Sinbad he stepped back and with one swift movement Rongar’s dirk hit Tyron
straight in the heart and he fell to the ground dead.
When Sinbad, Doubar and
Rongar got back to
“Rongar I would rather
die a thousand deaths than live an eternity without knowing you” she hugged
Rongar and he hugged her back the crew laughed and headed off for there next
adventure.
