Author Notes: I was making my deck over (and it turned out nicely I might add ^_^) and I pulled out some of my favorites. I asked a friend of mine to pick two random ones when they were face down and after seeing the first one I thought of a slight story idea. And the rest is history, well history in the making seeing as this isn’t done yet.

Large plant-like hands slowly ran down the rough bark of an ancient tree as amber eyes took in the beauty of the tree.

The Green Phantom King, Samuel, smiled as he felt the tree’s life force flow under his fingers. He loved to walk through his domain, to feel its life flowing all around him. The trees whispering their secrets to him and the animals greeting the one who protected their homes and lives.

His smile was lost as he stopped at the edge of the living earth. The wastelands looked back at him, promising death to any plant life that dare try to grow there.

He sighed sadly as he remembered when the wastelands had been part of his territory and life had thrived on the now dead land. He stepped up to the edge of the tree line and crouched down. He laid his hand on the barren earth and watched as his hand began to whither like a dehydrated flower.

A large form settled beside him and pulled his hand from the ground. He looked up startled that he had been found, but relaxed when he say their face.

"You shouldn’t dwell on this so much, Samuel." the long white haired monster said as he placed his friend’s hand on the grass below them, watching as it gained back its healthy green color.

"Yes I know," he said and turned his head back toward the forest "but I can’t help it Reinor! That used to be alive, but I wasn’t strong enough…"

"Not then you weren’t, but you are now" Reinor said as he wrapped his strong arms around his friend and let him lean against him. "As long as you are the ruler of this area these plants have no need to worry about an early death."

Samuel sighed and wrapped his own arms around the other monster, setting his head against his chest. His friend always knew what to say to keep him from his sadness. That was why he loved him so much.

"So. Now that you’re in an ultimately better mood, how about that dinner you promised?" Reinor said as he pulled from Samuel and grinned down at him.

"You know for being the big bad Summoned Skull you sure do spend a lot of time helping people feel better." Samuel said as he laughed and they started toward his home.

"Not people…" he grinned and grabbed his friend again, turning him toward himself.

He leaned foreword and pressed his lips to Samuel’s in a pleasant kiss. The other monster returned the kiss happily and when they pulled away they both smiled at each other.

"Just you." He finished and took his hand in his own before they set off again.

The plants whispered to each other about their protector and his companion. About their love and the future they had with each other.

At the edge of the wasteland a small plant pushed its way up from the hard earth and started to grow.

Genzai: Yeah it’s a little odd but hey these two came up. Trust me, its far from the oddest one I’ve got. ^_~

Genzai: Oh and the names are random too. I didn’t want to cell them like…Skull and Green. Could get confused with other monsters too easily. (Skull Knight for example could also be called Skull *nods*)

Genzai: Please let me know what you think of this pairing, maybe I could be talked into doing more with them.
