a long time ago, the gals and guys of STR were having many an argument. argument about what you may ask. some members were proclaiming their love of their Duran Duran god, past or present, and insisting that their support for their favorite far exceeded the love another member had for a different member.
this was a neverending battle and many witty remarks and comebacks were exchanged.
eager to put a tag on fans of John Taylor, who couldn't be called a member of Duran Duran any longer, fieldsofeden decided she wanted some sort of notorious sounding label to be applied to this part of the Duran Duran fan spectrum.
after quite a while of thinking and banging ideas around her in her mind, she thought...what would describe John Taylor fans from any era? what one thing unites them all? being the lazy and overly taxed with work person she always is, fieldsofeden was just too lazy to go through all the archived posts of STR to figure out exactly what she had said when prompted to discuss her John Taylor fandom...
then she had it!
what was the one thing that John Taylor was still good at all these years?
the ability to make women fall at his feet. the ability to turn the normal woman into a squealing, incoherent, blubbering mess.
yes Watson, he still has the ability to make the girls scream. he had the ability to do it then, in the '80s, but the magic is still there. VH1's "A Diva's Christmas Carol" in December 2000 had the distinction of having the highest TV viewership of any show on that network for the year 2000.
why, praytell, would that be?
two words - JOHN TAYLOR.
so she came up with the term "Taylorwailer" to describe the ultimate John Taylor fan, the kind of JT fan that still became the squealing, incoherent, blubbering mess upon seeing John on TV, in concert...you get the picture. and she bestowed herself with being the original Taylorwailer. however, after thinking about it some more, she realized that the term Taylorwailer could be applied to fans of John, Roger, and/or Andy Taylor - so it was decided that the Taylorwailer society would be open to fans of any of the Taylors.
anyone interested in showing their solidarity in Taylor fandom is invited to join the Taylorwailer society. simply send a message to [email protected], providing your name (and Yahoo ID if applicable), contact e-mail address, fave Taylor, and geographical location. and in due time you will be added to the list below! hopefully someday there will be a Taylorwailers get-together (maybe at a Duran Duran convention?) - we shall see!
